Back in November, Brad Pitt's Plan B productions and Paramount Pictures snatched up the rights for Paul Pope's forthcoming graphic novel 'Battling Boy'. Now 'Watchmen' scribe Alex Tse has come on board to write the script for the film.

The book, a few pages of which have been previewed on Pope's blog, looks to be tour de force of comic book action, focused on a young Godling who is sent down to the megacity of mortals to battle giant monsters. On his blog, Pope writes of a 50-page fight scene. The graphic is to be published by First Second Books.

Tse is also working on the live-action 'Ninja Scroll' as well as 'The Illustrated Man' and 'Frankie Machine'..

Plan B is also at work on the adaptation of Charles Burns' tome 'Black Hole'.

What do you think, Maniacs? Looking forward to seeing Pope cut loose on massive monster battles? Post your comments below.

They just assume any graphic novel can be adapted to film. They must think "based on the acclaimed graphic novel" (even if it isn't) automatically translates to hit film. Based on the publisher this will be sparsely read anyway. It does sound like a treat but putting it into film it's a whole new game.

What ever happened to that Sci-Fi (or is it SyFY) novel Pitt picked up called "The Sparrow". That sounded interesting.
