Hanso, I was under the impression that the head lost boy was Peter Pan.  I just thought he was referring to himself in the third person when he had that line about failing.

I think Hook is highly entertaining and does a very good job of doing what it sets out to do.  I would say Lost World, AI, and War of the Worlds are all worse efforts than Hook.  I think The Terminal might also be worse because it was so generic and forgettable.  Of course, none of those movies are terrible (or even bad), which goes to show you how amazing Spielberg is.

I presume Shawshank is the best King adaptation because it's one of the greatest films of all time.  I suppose, having not read it, that it could be an amazing movie that's actually a poor adaptation of the source material.  Regardless, it's certainly the best movie based on a Steven King book.

Hook was Spielberg's biggest disappointment, not necessarily his worst.   Considering all the hype that happened before its release, the end result was a big letdown with most of the kids, including Peter Pan's son, very obnoxious.   I think his worst is War of the Worlds because it had Tom Cruise and two annoying kids running from aliens.  When you rooting for the aliens, you know there is a problem.

No coincidence that when you think of Stephen King adaptations, 3 that are usually mentioned are Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile and The Mist.  All 3 were done by Frank Darabont.  I really enjoyed all 3 but that ending to The Mist is still a kick in the balls.

...and nobody mentions the Shining and Misery?

Even here not enough love paid to Hannibal, the best show on this entire list of weekly shows... well, aside from GoT of course. If you're late to the party, start at episode one and work forward. Like Lost and GoT, you can't start midstride.

Love for the Stand? goodness me, that series was horrible. The Stand needs cable television treatment... Wouldn't that be an innovative idea? AMC's (or better yet, HBO)  new hit series, Stephen King Presents: Season 1: The Stand, Season 2: Tommyknockers, Season 3: Needful Things.
