Elizabeth Banks (SEABISCUIT, Better Brant in both SPIDER-MAN films) and Michael Rooker (THE 6TH DAY) have been cast in SLITHER, a horror movie scheduled to start shooting next month. DAWN OF THE DEAD screenwriter James Gunn is making his directing debut with the picture, which he also wrote.
SLITHER uses a dash of science fiction for its premise: an extraterrestrial plague has infected a small town. One of the citizens that's infected (Rooker) goes on a homicidal killing spree, leaving his wife (Banks) and the man's ex-girlfriend the only ones capable of bringing the madness to an end.
Universal Pictures will distribute the movie while Strike Entertainment and Gold Circle Films are producing.
