Two Major DARK KNIGHT Rumors

By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor

Source: Film Ick

I say "rumors" because while Brendon over at Film Ick has said "multiple sources" collaborated on this intelligence, this obviously has not been confirmed. It involves two major characters from the Batman mythology showing up in THE DARK KNIGHT.

Before saying anything here, I'm going to state a clear warning to everyone. If you do not wish to be spoiled, I'd advise exiting this article. The reason I say this is because obviously the topic will be discussed below in our comments section for those who do read the spoilers. The spoilers will most likely be mentioned and if you honestly don't want to know some of the key details regarding THE DARK KNIGHT and characters in the film, I'm saying right now that it is best to not read further than right here.

Alright, now that the spoiler warning is out of the way...

For those of you would like to know who Anthony Michael Hall seems to be playing in the upcoming Batman film as well as learning about a possible 3rd villian appearing (along with Joker/Scarecrow)....All you have to do is click right here.

Big thanks to scooper Daforce for the story.

Pretty good casting of Hall.
The third villain may appear in the final moments of the film, briefly; that's my guess, anyway. Heckuva teaser for the next installment...

Hall could be playing Nygma, but that doesn't mean he'll be the Riddler in the movie; could be a set-up for the third film. I hope there aren't too many villains in the film. I thought thee villains overshadowed batman too much in Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, and I don't want to see that again. I'd like to see more of Batman scouring the city for Joker, especially if Joker's taken Gordon's family hostage. But, if Nolan's just laying the groundwork for future villains, then I'm all for having the characters show up briefly.

I think Batman Returns handled three villains pretty well. It can be done. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a super hero movie with lots of villains. They don't all have to be a threat for the whole movie with a big, dramatic confrontation at the end. Spider-Man 3 would have worked better if Sandman was just a bit player Spidey beat up while dealing with his new suit, Harry, and then Venom at the end.

I agree that Batman Returns did handle multiple villians pretty well and I do think that these are more just set ups for the third film. Something that happens in the movie can trigger Edward "E." Nigma turning him into the Riddler or he could be one of the people that escaped Arkham in BB. As far as Two Face, the description just sounds like the probably filmed the courtroom scene and the aftermath. It doesn`t mean that Two-Face will actually make an appearance. Even if he does, it will probably be at the end again setting up the third film.

Its a measure of the respect that we all have for Nolan's work on the first film that we aren't getting very nervous! If this was any other director, we'd be scared shirtless about this many villains being linked to the movie.

The Hall --> Nygma rumor was pretty much a no-brainer ever since he said that the revelation of his character would be earth shaking (or whatever big phrase he used). Very few characters in the Batman mythos are big enough to the general public to warrant a huge label like that.

I sincerely hope that the Two-Face revelation is handled much like the Joker card introduced at the end of the first movie. I cringe to think of a potentially great stand-alone villain reduced to Riddler's sidekick. Not that they would ever do that in a Batman movie... oh... wait... hrmmmmm...

I hear ya wessmith. I love Batman Begins. Christopher Nolan did a hell of a job. He did a great job with The Prestige also. But every time I hear a new rumor about this movie, I get a little nervous that this rebooted franchise is going to head down the Joel Schumacher road. Too many villains make me nervous. It may have worked for the old Batman franchise style in the '66 movie, but it sure as hell made Batman Forever and Batman and Robin suck donkeys. Just thinking of Awnold tripping over his line "Everybody freeze" just makes me shudder. If they are just setting up the characters for a future sequel, then cool. But hearing that Eckhart is in his Two-Face alter ego makeup already and that Hall is Nygma, has me think that is not the case. The difference is Schumacher was a hack and Nolan is great and casts great actors, so the chances of it working out better this time around are higher. Just my opinion anyways.

Well this is just sad! SORRY BUT ITS NOT AARON ECKHART getting acid in the face its just a victim of the Joker. I live in Chicago and am one of those lucky enough to be an xtra--which even in side in Chicago sucks because of the humidity.

But TWO FACE IS NOT IN THIS FILM OK--quit trying to tie stuff together.

Also Anthony Michael Hall is NOT NYGMA he is another character who was smaller in BATMANs M YTHOLOGY but given more storyroom for this movie.

This rumor fest is sad.Just relax and wait for the movie to come out or better yet confirm something is real before talking about it. Just because we are Americans doesnt mean we dont need to get facts right unlike the Bush terrorism administration.

Sony, if you are really in the know...then who is Hall playing? Since you couldn't resist making a lame political reference and tying it into a Batman movie, I'd guess you are full of bunk. This is, btw, a movie site where people speculate about upcoming films they are anxious to see. Um, and I might point out that you do the same daily.

nax37 • Jul 09, 2007, 09:26am •
I'm an extra in the film too. It's Lex Luthor who gets acid in the face and that turns him into the Hulk. Fortunately Batman teams up with Savage Dragon and Buffy and they take down the Hulk before he can eat Betty Boop. I'm an extra and they told me all this because I have a nice smile.
