Production for G.I JOE must be gearing up soon because this will be four casting confirmations in two days. Well, technically, this will be three casting confirmations because the Hollywood Reporter made no mention of Byung-Hun Lee getting cast as Storm Shadow...The trade confirmed that Rachel Nichols will be playing "Scarlett" while also announcing newly cast Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje ("Lost") and Said Taghmaoui (The Kite Runner). Agbaje will be playing the ordnance expert "Heavy Duty" while Taghmaoui will be portraying the communications expert "Breaker".

Stephen Sommers is directing Stuart Beattie's latest screenplay draft based on the popular Hasbro action figures, comic book series and Saturday morning cartoon. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Hasbro's Brian Goldner are producing with Sommers and Bob Ducsay.

So, here's what we have so far...

Sienna Miller=Baroness (Confirmed)

Ray Park=Snake Eyes (Confirmed)

Rachel Nichols=Scarlett (Confirmed)

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje=Heavy Duty (Confirmed)

Said Taghmaoui =Breaker (Confirmed)

Byung-Hun Lee=Storm Shadow (Rumored)

G.I JOE will hit theaters August 7, 2009.

TMNT, Transformers, GI Joe, when will we see He-Man return to the big screen?

He-Man is slated smack between the Silverhawks and Bionic-6 movie. Seriously if they're going to mine all of these 80's titles, I wouldn't mind seeing a live-action M.A.S.K vs. Venom movie. I used to love that sh!t

Dude! Flint I was just going to mention M.A.S.K. That was an awesome toon. I think that would be a cool live action movie. If they can do Transformers so well, as far as CGI and F/X, M.A.S.K. should easy. Matt Tracker.

actually they've already talked about making a He-Man and a Thundercats movie. I think both would make good realistic CG movies rather than live action.

I too think M.A.S.K. would be a visually cool movie to see, but I doubt it will ever happen. Even though we remember it fondly, it actually had a pretty short life span in both cartoon and toy form compared to these other properties. The studios may not think it has enough pop culture/nostalgia power to make it a hit theatrically.

You're probably right Zilla, but don't let Myles Mahem or Cliff Dagger hear you say that. They'll cut'ya man, mess you up!

I can't wait for the live action Care Bears movie. I heard Forest Whitaker was rumored to play Grumpy Bear.

Never give up. The way things are being rehashed now a days you never know. They made Thunderbirds, The Phantom and quite a few other films based on pretty obscure characters.

I've always wondered what's the hold up on M.A.S.K. going to DVD? GI Joe was huge for me when I was a kid so I hope to see something cool come out of this.

Oh! One change they can make is...I better not see every single Cobra soldier parachute out of his exploding plane! All those freakin' bullets and explosions and everyone survives?! It was like a cartoon version of the A-Team!

Also, with the writer's strike, I'm waiting for 'producers' to start 'Frankensteining' old episode scripts together to make into feature films. It seems they many times they end up butchering good scripts anyway, so why not do the whole thing themselves?

MASK was the best. They were always my favorite toy. I was so pissed when my mother gave them away when I grew out of them. She kept my heman, gi joe, turtles but gave away MASK. I would love to still have those.
