I wonder if the idea of a Dark Flash is why they chose not to go with Geoff Johns script. I guarantee his script was very much like the character. He does write the comic after all.

But the suits scrapped it because it doesnt coincide with their stupid plan to make everything DARK. And now they may be FORCING Nolan to make batman a 3-D movie?

The third movie in most franchises suck because the corporate morons start jumping on the band wagon of  success and try to improve it with their visionless thinking. Spiderman 3, Batman, Xmen.Looks like the 3rd movie curse. looks like it will remain.

Geoff Johns knows Flash, Nolan knows filmmaking. Damn I hate suits. They everything and all they do is hurt their own wallets in the larger scheme of things. Lt the artists do what they do best and you will continue to reap the benefis.

The Flash in the vein of CSI or SE7EN seems like a bad idea to me.  I think the old CBS show actually had about the right amount of "darkness" you can inject into the Flash.  I mean they had a Danny Elfman theme (right off of Batman).  It was a serious natured show, but you didn't catch Barry brooding.  I jus think they better be careful trying to make things too dark with that particular character.

Flash/Se7en?  I dunno... I guess it could work but it'd be dark fo sho.  Dark humor works but that ain't the Flash that I know.  Barry was never particularly funny that I remember, that was always Wally's bag.

Smallville and Supernatural were pretty good.  I loved seeing the costume under ice, that was wicked.  He has to earn it I guess.  Good for Jor-El (even though he's a bit of a prick).  Still not too sure about Supernatural.  Ending it after the Heaven & Hell War concluded would have been a nice sendoff.  This new "mystery" has me intrigued and skeptical.

Batman 3D?  I don't mind, I like the new tech and it's here to stay, may as well embrace it.  Someday we'll have no choice but to see most genre films in 3D.  It doesn't need to be forced down the producer/director's throat though, especially one who has already had great success with a franchise without it.

Affleck or Aronofsky?  Hmm...  I've seen some of Aronofsky's stuff (the Wrestler and the Fountain) and he might be a little too artsy for a comic book movie.  Ben Affleck might have the chops to do it if what I keep hearing about his directed movies is correct.  I guess I'll have to rent GBG and catch the Town if it comes to my town.  He's already got a connection to the Big Blue Boyscout after playing George Reeves, which is probably why he pulled his name out of contention.

Maybe home 3D will improve the experience (less annoying glasses, different technology) but I find 3D to be either annoyingly exaggerated or pointlessly subtle.  Heck, I'm so against 3D, I'm going to start watching all of my films in 1D.

Sorry Mania I'm calling bull on the Nolan story until it progresses. There is no way they are going to make the director of the last Batman movie that literally made a billion dollars do 3d if he doesn't want to and risk losing him.

It's funny how we always jump to the craziest conclusions regarding these little bits of genre news that come out. Regarding Flash I got that they are just going to embrace the fact that Barry is a CSI type character. They're is nothing indicating that they are going to make it like Se7en just that it may be tonally similar is the regard of Barry's real job. I don't know if you guys have been paying attention to the web lately but Warner is crossing all of their T's and dotting all their I's in regard to the DC entertainment merger. I could be wrong but I think they are really trying to get it together in terms of quality product we'll see. I am just not going to assume that Flash will be like se7en until I see or hear otherwise.

Movies going to 3D is all about the moola.  Matinee prices where I live are already 8.50 for 2D and 13.50 for 3D.  Its a built in 35-45% increase on profits for them.  The increase in prodution costs are only 10-15% for them and they get to charge you more for the same movie for something your brain already does. If was a studio head Id push for everything to go 3D as well because at the end of the day its all about the benjamins.

Some differences between DC movie-verse and Marvel and why they will never top Marvel.  While it is true that one thing DC has over Marvel is the rights to all the characters... however... that is the only upper hand they have.

1. DC has No plans for continuity or crossovers.  Marvel has take all the property they have rights to and tied them together to the delight of fans everwhere.

2. DC's major event stories are too complicated seemingly involving EVERYONE to some degree.  Marvel at least sticks to a simple premise which can be more easily adapted and pick and choose who to use or not use.

3. Several of DC's Justice League big guns have languished in development hell, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Martian the Manhunter (yah... like that will ever get made).  Marvel gives me hope that a real Punisher film will finally be done, and I fully expect within a number of years to see Luke Cage (one of the recently exceedingly cool Marvel characters) get a film, and if Marvel Studios ever got the rights back to FF i think a Silver Surfer film would be on the horizon.

4. Finally,DC seemingly has the apparent idea the because "The Dark Knight" was... dark... all other DC films need to be "dark"... do they (the suits) even know what that means???  Flash is not Dark, GL is not Dark (i guess you could argue the recent Darkest Night but that is followed by Brightest Day... ooo ahhhh), Plastic Man, Superman NONE OF THEM ARE REALLY DARK.  If you want Dark look at the Marvel film verse, Tony Stark is an alcoholic, Bruce Banner is a pushover, Steve Rogers spends much of his early days in the present bewildered and confused as to "do i really belong here" (fortunately he figures it out), he is tormented by his failure to save Bucky, and he KILLS Nazi's for christ sake (Yay!), Thor is a spoiled rotten little brat that need to be taught that his powers are a gift and not to be exploited, Black widow = former soviet spy with many relationship problems, Hawkeye = formal villain trying to be good.  Finally, The Sentry is a former drug addict so insane he nearly destroyed the freaking planet.  If anything Marvel is much darker then DC and Bruce belongs in the Marvel verse.
