Two new international banners for The Dark Knight have popped up online this afternoon courtesy of Omelete. To check out one, click the photo on the left. To see the other, hit the link above. The upcoming sequel will star Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. Christopher Nolan is once again directing, based on a screenplay that he wrote alongside brother Jonathan.

In semi-related "Knight" fashion, it seems the caped crusader is joining the Milk campaign as well. Warner Bros. and the fellow milk drinkers over at Body by Milk website have shown a new poster, which you can see by clicking on the gallery banner above.

Plot Summary:
"The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

The Dark Knight will hit theaters July 18, 2008.

Be the first to leave a comment. Man, can someone give me a coma machine so that I can just go to sleep until this movie comes out. I'd do it. Guess I'll have to catch Hulk on DVD, which I don't really want to do but I want to see this flick so bad. Oh, yeah. I have a coma machine right here...Foster's; Australian for beer. Cheers.

That is by far the creepiest TDK banner I have seen with the Joker. Freaking Awesome! I`m right there with you MrJawbreaking.

They are promoting this so well, I hope to this day Joel Schumacher wakes up and realizes that it takes an ARTIST to re-invent a franchise like this and a hack like him to detstroy it. Bravo Mr. Nolan, Bravo.

I guess I'll start getting excited after The Hulk. Right now not so much for some reason. I'm curious as to wether or not is going to be able to knock off Keaton's Batman as box office king of Bat films. I don't think it will myself, even with inflation. 250 mil is a tall order.

Wiseguy, I think this one could do it. It looks kickass and a lot of people are going to go see it because of the morbid curiosity of seeing Heath Ledger in it. I was actually surprised when I saw your post and had to look it up on IMDb. I'm very shocked that Begins didn't out gross Keaton's Batman. As much as I loved Batman when it came out, I thought Begins was much better.

Oh, and I heard Prince's Batman song on the radio this weekend for the first time in years! Cracked me up!!

Well, since I love Keaton's Batman the most I want it to remain king. And the Dark Knight has four things that could hamper its final b.o. numbers, 1-It's very dark, parents may not take their young to see it. 2-Competition. Space Chimps for the kids and Mamma Mia for the ladies open the same day. 3-It's Bats against Joker, the casual fan may say "seen it, done it already" 4- The casual fan may be heroed out Even with all that I expect a big hit, the ace in the hole may be what you said about morbid curiosity. Anyway, we'll soon find out.

Even with the dark thematic I fully expect The Dark Knight to beat Burton’s Batman, both critically and financially. Hopefully, people will come to understand that what Nicholson did with the Joker wasn’t even remotely representative of the comic and rather will embrace what Ledger has done as the definitive cinematic interpretation of the character. I have nothing against Burton’s Batman but it’s never been an accurate portrayal of the mythos. Keaton as Batman is laughable, especially when compared to Bale’s physical dimensions and acting pedigree. Nolan and his crew deserve continued praise for not only resurrecting a nearly dead franchise but also creating the only true cinematic Batman experience, save for the animated series and films. I fully expect TDK to be even better, perhaps emerging as the definitive comic book film.
