The Lovecraftian anthologies sound good, I love short stories. I have a Cthulhu anthology from a few years ago that's a keeper.

Have those Star Trek Titan books gotten any better? I tried and tried but I was never able to make it through the first one I thought it was so bad.

Good sales numbers for December hope they stay that way.  Like movies, books are a way to escape the rough times even for a brief moment so I'm not surprised to see that.  Though the entertainment industry for movies and books better watch their prices.  I can't remember which book it was but I was only going to pick up a paperback of something and was turned away by the $12.00 price tag and it wasn't anything special nor was it a large book...can't remember which that was just remember being turned away by the price.  I will not spend that much on a paperback.

The last time I read a Star Trek book was in the 90's. I bought it as a "beach book" - an unchallenging read while lying in the sun on vacation. I think it was a Next Generation plot and I remember wishing that they could create aliens on TV like they did in the book. In the book, they had backward knees so they walked like birds - much more interesting than a nose or forehead bump to establish alien-ness. But, that's all I remember about it, and it didn't make me want to rush out and buy more Star Trek books.

Marvel’s Hasbro line for 2009 will encompass not only the classic Marvel comic book characters but also their movie and TV properties as well. It will include everything from the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie and yes, even the original Secret Wars comic.

The 'Wonder Woman' DVD landed on our doorstep this weekend. We watched the movie and it's a great flick, but that's not what we're here to write about today.
