As the anticipation builds for the next installment into the Star Trek franchise, Paramount Pictures have updated their official website with a ton of brand new content and released two new clips from the J.J. Abrams-directed film. At their updated online destination, you can check out some new dossiers on the major characters, panaorama views of the bridge, hallways and a detailed model gallery of the Enterprise. There's also some new phaser applications for the iPod and a music track promotion with Rockband planned on April 7th. For more details, click the link above.

Paramount Pictures has also unleashed two new clips, which you can check out here and here.

This new Star Trek will star Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Zachary Quinto, Winona Ryder, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Eric Bana and Leonard Nimoy. Abrams was behind the camera, based on a screenplay by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

The film will hit standard and IMAX theaters May 8, 2009.

Those were two cool clips.  I can't believe how well Urban is doing Bones.  Even you have to admit Starlight, that wasn't a bad portrayal of Dr. McCoy.  Even the bar scene was good though I know the faithful are going to have issue with it.  Looking forward to this one.

I've been in favor of a new take on the franchise for a long time. I still love the original series but that ship has sailed, docked and retired. It's time for somethying new.

Urban really nailed down Bones. Going by that clip, he's done a much better job than I expect it. And Pine and Saldana looked good too. I'm really pumped for this.

I use to think that Wolverine coming out a week before this was going to hurt ST but I'm starting to think Star Trek is going to hurt Wolverine.

I don't want to look at the clips because you can get inundated with clips and scenes for movies and I would rather see it as fresh as possible. I haven't seen Fast & Furious but from trailers and clips I feel like I've seen alot of the major sequences.

I had a feeling Urban would do Bones justice. I remember people were pissed that an actor best known for macho agressive roles like the Borune movies, LOTR, and Riddick could pull off a more "character" role but you can't always pigeonhole some one like that. Leslie Nielson would still be a serious leading man actor otherwise.

In 2004 with ENTERPRISE dying, I said, LEAVE STAR TREK for at least 10 years!  Make the fans CRAVE for it, then doing something radical.

WhenI said rdical, i was thinking, lets visit the 25th century ..  but instead we get a fresh look at Kirk And Company!

And I was scarred .. .

WELL, when I saw the first trailer, I was hooked, and I have not been THIS stoked for a Trek Flick since 1996's STAR TREK  : FIRST CONTACT, and I pour nothing but JEALOUS RAGE at all those who saw this film already, we COULD have seen this in December, but making it a Summer Tentpole film was a wise desision by Paramount, it will Destroy Wolveriene at the boxoffice, and I will have a PERMAGRIN on my face when i see it May 8th!

Until then, Set Phasers to Stun!

Suck it Starlight!  Star Trek has already been shown to a few people and all the reviews I've seen say it's real good.  Check AICN for a few and I think they got a link to other reviews around the web.

What say you sir?

OmegaDean 4/8/2009 8:49:16 AM

I like Bones and that is about all

StarlightGuard 4/8/2009 8:53:52 AM

but, no honestly I cannot see the clips...all I've seen is the trailer,  and that was via Reelz Channel

hanso 4/8/2009 8:57:36 AM
