Two Planets on AvP-REQUIEM?

By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
Date: Monday, September 10, 2007
Source: Shock Til You Drop & Fangoria

Two seperate sources have confirmed that we will be traveling to a different planet in the sequel, ALIENS VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM. Apparently, both Shock Til You Drop and Fangoria have been tipped off that we will be seeing the homeworld of the Predator in this sequel which hits theaters this December.

Co-director Greg Strause even teased Fangoria on the subject:

"There's lots of stuff still unseen — complete scenes that are not in the trailer," then, "A new world perhaps..."

Plot Concept: In this follow-up to the worldwide hit "Alien vs. Predator," the iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, wage war in an American Midwestern town – where the residents and the military are caught in the middle.

ALIENS VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM hits theaters everywhere December 25, 2007.

Wow, they left entire scenes out of the trailer? I don't know about you guys but I'm quite shocked.

I've changed my mind about this movie. It's gonna suck.

I thought the trailer looked good, but that don't mean much for this movie, plus why haven't they marketed this more? That always means they (fox) have no faith in this. And did you notice the woman shooting the machine gun looks exactly like Ripley? Why do they do shit like that? But as long as it's better than the first one we should be good, but that's not setting the bar very high.

AvP was a worldwide hit? LOL! Seems its fairly hated by a LOT of people (after stealing their ticket money)
the Predator planet would be a good move, they never had that kind of balls on the Alien movies to show the Alien homeworld. (likewise, they never showed Earth either)

I agree, the quote is dumb. I thought we were going to get a 3 minute movie! Damnit! :)

Man I still hope they don't ruin Alien Continuity. Somehow they might, but I can't be sure of this until I see the movie. Still, I think alot of people will probably survive, thus messing up the fact that humans came into contact with Aliens (a.k.a - Xenomorphs) alot earlier than they were suppose to. So if this is the case someone should have told them to watch Aliens (The seconds one) again.

When the first AVP fim came out, the NY Daily News summed up their review in one sentence:

"With one movie, FOX has managed to ruin two franchises.

I think this movie is going to be a love/hate kind of deal. Yes, it does look a lot better then the original, but like most of us have stated, that is not saying much.

I still stick my my statments of saying, "MAKE A SEPERATE PREDATOR MOVIE AND POSSIBLY ALIEN MOVIE. IT WOULD NOT HURT!"

I just think the Predator franchise can do sooooo much more with this......well, Predator, and just dumping the series after the sequal is not fair. I say it's not fair, fair, fair!

Upon initial viewing of the first film I was just happy to see both creatures again and was satisfied, but when viewed a second time I barely got through it and certainly felt negatively about the film as a whole. This time I'm excited like I was the last time to be seeing both creatures again and an R-rating might help but I'm much more sceptical. The female lead is being played by Reiko Aielsworth (spelling?) who was a regular on several seasons of 24 and I never really warmed to her but she was decent enough. I agree with the pairing of these characters because seperate films would most likely just be trying to recapture the originals and would most likely be un-interesting, as for mythology, well perhaps they are trying to restart them both.....that is definitly the way these days isn't it? And for the production comment concerning the trailer? Well perhaps he was just trying to say that there is a lot more to the film than the trailer would indicate......he just said it in a way that gets some people thinking he is stupid. I'll save that judgement for when I see the film. Emotion and setting are everything in these films, no one could dispute the success of the first two alien films because of those elements being executed so perfectly. The sequels that were spawned just weren't able to capture that, but then again Ridley Scott and James Cameron moved on to other things and are obviously not easily replaced. The two predator films still remain good to me after all these years because they are so much different but still have the same basic elements. We are so lucky to have had the original films made by true filmakers in a time when you really had to make movie magic happen without the ease of software and editing. I really want to believe that they can still make good films with this content.

Here's an idea...put both of the "franchises" back in the box for 15 years a la Star Wars, then "reboot" them by remaking the originals in 2022.
