It seems that Arnold Schwarzenegger may make his return to the realm of genre entertainment before any Governator film hits 3D theaters in 2013. Despite the recently-announced project hitting multiple media platforms over the next two years, Variety reports that Arnold is also eyeing a return to cinema by way of Kim Jee-woon's The Last Stand or Antoine Fuqua's The Tomb.

"Last Stand," to be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and directed by Jee-woon Kim ("I Saw the Devil") from a script by Andrew Knauer and Jeffrey Nachmanoff, revolves around a border-town sheriff who battles a Mexican cartel boss. Liam Neeson had considered starring, but he's moved on, opening the door for Schwarzenegger, who's received an offer and is in early discussions to topline.

"The Tomb," to be directed by Antoine Fuqua, is about a structural security expert who's framed for a crime and put in a high-security prison that he designed. Miles Chapman and Jason Keller penned the thriller.

Insiders say Schwarzenegger has had several meetings over the past couple weeks with Fuqua and Summit execs, and both sides have shown mutual interest in working together. With "Last Stand," Schwarzenegger has yet to meet with Kim.

The tomb might be interesting..........but it's been done to death..........good director though..........just put on the leather and go after John Connor already!!  You know you wanna!!!!

Wow, I hope he does the Last Stand just to see Arnie in a Jee-won Kim movie. That would be pretty cool. The second kinda reminds me of the Running Man too much. Either way I am sure whatever he does first there will be people waiting in line to see Schwarzeneggers return to the big sceen. I know I will...... Get your ass to Mars!

I prefer seeing Arnold in The Tomb rather than The Last Stand. I don't see the guy as a Mexican border sheriff. The Tomb sounds more like what he would have done in the 80s. And since we're on the subject of his return, what about The Expendables 2? I really hope he is coming back for that.

Shasta: And that is exactly why he should star in The Tomb. The fact that it is like The Running Man makes it worthwhile. It certainly sounds better than End of Days and The 6th Day. :P

Krathwardroid: Its perfect for him dont get me wrong. I just hope its a movie down the line because we have seen that kinda Arnold movie before. If you think about it, his action movies have all kinda stunk since True Lies. Thats why I really hope he does Last Stand (a story that has been done before too, I know) just because Jee-won KIm is a pretty awesome director (IMO) and to see them team up would bring a kinda familiar Arnold, but with a kind of filmmaking we havent seen him be a part of yet.

I second Shasta, Last Stand sounds much better but I wouldn't gripe either way. Both films sound pretty good and have credible directors

Shasta: Perhaps. It may be a different approach for him. The Last Stand actually sounds similar to Machete. If they do that one, I hope it has a decent story and not some throw-away script like End of Days, 6th Day, and Collateral Damage. Even Terminator 3 could have been better, but I have since come to appreciate that more in recent years just for that fact that he did do it.

Arnold is way past his prime for main rolls.  He needs to be secondary, like a master, teacher type of roll.  Old man stuff that kind of thing.  He could go bad buy route again but Mr Freeze....
