Two to die in next HARRY POTTER book

"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling said two characters will die in the seventh and last book in the popular franchise during a live interview on Channel 4's Richard & Judy in the UK.

"The final chapter is hidden away, although it's now changed very slightly. One character got a reprieve. But I have to say two die that I didn't intend to die," she said. "A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras do they? They go for the main characters. Well, I do."

While she wouldn't reveal if one of the two characters is Harry himself, Rowling added that she has never been tempted to kill him off before the final book because she had always planned seven.

"I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks, 'Well, I'm gonna kill them off because that means there can be no non-author written sequels. So it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'."

Giving an update on the book's status, Rowling said, "The last book is not finished. But I'm well into it now. I wrote the final chapter in something like 1990, so I've known exactly how the series is going to end."

There wizards, the characters can always be brought back somehow. That time thing they used in the 3rd movie for instance.

I hope they don't kill off Harry. Ron could die. That would be dramatic enough. I can't spell Hermione or what ever, but I'd like to see her make it too. Kill off snape or the giant dude.

No I've never read the books, can you tell?

What really sucks is that a day or two after the book release news will spread like wildfire as to who dies. That is one downfall of the Internet, it's one thing to get a glipse at what may be coming, but another to have the ending blurted out.

well, to avoid being spoiled, buy the book and read it before going online. Most sites won't spoil it without a warning. Your only real danger is message boards.

P.S. Snape kills Dumbledore.
;)

there are tons of characters rowling could kill off...it may even be one she introduces in the last book itself...people (myself included) may be thinking ron and hermione (now that would be a kick in the teeth to harry who has already lost his parents, godfather, and mentor) but i hope rowling would not be so cruel...keep in mind two that prophecy that says loosley that either voldemort and harry must bite the dust, so that could be one of the characters (what if voldemort wins?)...rowling is a smart cookie...this is a great stunt to rekindle those flames of desire for the final book and generate interest in the previous six...

I can't imagine Voldemort would win. That'd be a little depressing. I hope Harry, Ron, and Hermione all survive. Harry deserves to have some happiness.

How about one of them turns evil, you can say "Dark". They kill one of the "professors",there is a funeral. One decides to take on the leadership role and the one of the others who is in love with the "Dark" one kills them to save everyone else. There is a huge final battle with a bunch of minor "wizards" and large pieces of the school get moved about, magically.

I would really really be surprised if she kills off Harry. I think she's just trying to make it sound like she will so that she will get a bunch of publicity as people panic.

My guesses...Voldemort Dies. Snape Dies.
Possible deaths...Draco & (I'm drawing a blank on his name..the groundskeeper).

Predictions:
Harry becomes youngest Defense Against The Dark Arts professor.
Hermione becomes a professor at Hogwarts (replacing McGonigal?) and eventually marries Ron.
