Genre films were weakly represented in the main categories, with honorary genre flick GANGS OF NEW YORK leading the nomination count at five, Peter Jackson's THE TWO TOWERS adding nominations for best director and best drama picture, and Paul Newman's performance in ROAD TO PERDITION garnering that picture's single nomination.
