THE AGE caught up with director of cinematography Michael Funke of THE TWO TOWERS to plumb the depths of their reactions to the relative paucity of Oscar nominations for the film this year. As noted in another news story at CINESCAPE today, THE TWO TOWERS scored only six nominations this year, compared to THE FELLOWHIP OF THE RING's 13.

Funke expressed disappointment that director Peter Jackson did not receive a nomination for best director. He says, "We're terribly disappointed. But we always say film three is the big one, so we know he's going to get nominated then."
