VARIETY notes that the second installment in
THE LORD OF THE RINGS saga,
THE TWO TOWERS, has begun worldwide advance ticket sales, four weeks ahead of the film's December opening date. The film's precursor,
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, inaugurated advance ticketing two weeks prior to release.
The first film's online sales ultimately represented 8% of the film's opening weekend gross.
