I do enjoy the series a lot! This is bad news for me. Sounds like they want to slow down the show for stupid people.

It seems executive frustration with the creative direction of "Heroes" have caused two writers/executive producers to receive their walking papers. Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb, who have been around since season 1, were reportedly fired on Sunday, reports Variety. Both Alexander and Loeb were known to have led the day-to-day production operation under the direction of creator/executive producer Tim Kring.
The genre series, produced by Universal Media Studios, has struggled in the ratings its third season. It's understood that Alexander and Loeb were let go because of NBC executives' frustration with the creative direction of the show and some budget overruns this season that go beyond the agreed-upon $4 mil per-episode costs.

*heroes season 3 vague spoiler alert*
I'm still not getting what problem people have been having with this season. There's no wonder twins, nikki's replacement is kinda interesting, minimal miccah, Sylar & Peter have an intriguing reversal, and Hero has a nemesis. This is probably some of Loeb's best work (considering the absolute crap he's been writing for marvel lately, I suppose that's not saying much).
Rating keep droping every week for a reason...something had to be done. I hate to hear when people lose their job but there were a lot more jobs on the line if this show got the axe. I give credit to the studio for trying a different direction in order to save it.
Dazzler and AM...you are obviously a kool-aid fans if you haven't noticed the numerous and I mean numerous flaws and story gaps in this show. This isn't the the season 1 show that we all came to love. As a friend pointed out to me its like the later seasons of Smallville which seems to make sense because Loeb was running that show too.
Bravo, NBC. This show has become rehashed garbage. The season finale last year was gawdawful, and this season has been a complete rip-off of several notable movies and past tv shows. They managed to kill this franchise in less than two years! Getting rid of a couple of writers may help, but it could be too late for this show.
I've enjoyed the show as is but TV shows are rarely thought of as great critical successes after the first season. Case in point, Lost. It was so great and innovative its first season, then when the sophmore year rolled around some fans and critics complained that it was all old hat. alot of which comes from having seen it already.
Also ratings drops are not necessarily a sign of the show going downhill. We've all loved series that we thought were fantastic and we wished everyone would see it but they never seem to get a big audience (Galactica, as example). Does this mean the show is crappy and you just don't realize it? Of course not. Just the rough struggle of getting and keeping an audience in the world of multiple cable channels, gaming and other distractions.
I wonder how well its doing in internet viewing?
The show fucked up because it's trying too much to be like a comic book and just like comics continuity becomes entangled and gets in the way.
Like my boy hanso (yo hanso what's up) noted in the past the show should've went with its original intent of telling stories of completely different characters instead of going with one long soap opera like storyline. That way each season could easily be a stand alone and even if you bring some characters back for cameos it still doesn't get mired in the same bullshit.
You know that it had to happen. plus it's good to know that they are acknowledging that they have screwed up on this show, and that people (us) are pissed off about it....I think that it will be good to have some new writers on the show and give a different take on what's been going on....it can still be salvaged, but it's going to have to take some serious looking at....for example: can we just kill off Heroes that are on just a waste of screen time, and bring back some of the cast that really mattered?
Don't get me wrong, some of the elements of this season can be saved, but not very much....it got away from what made it interesing from the first season...they really need to get back to that...
It's odd that they were able to do such a good job of briging the show around at the end of season 2, but they seem to be struggling so much now. You would think they would have learned their lesson. Hopefully, these two weren't the ones that were preventing the show from completely tanking. If they're just scapegoats, this show could be in serious trouble.
Btw, $4M per ep? Really? Wow. Didn't expect that...
Hopefully it means Heroes starts getting back on track. I hope the new people they bring in can keep track of all the inconsistencies and crazy senseless shit that goes on in the show. Maybe they should look into fiiring Kring also.
