What They SayAwaited DVD edition of the group's 'WHITE REFLECTION' promo clip. Also includes a nonstop dance mix footage shot at Roppongi's Velfarre during the show they gave in 1998.
The Review!White Reflection is the ending theme for Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and was recorded by TWO-MIX. White Reflection "The Movie" refers to an animated music video that was made for the song in 1997. This MV was included as a Quicktime extra on the TWO-MIX BPM "Best Files" CD (KICS-611). I believe it was also aired on Asian MTV.
The MV is entirely original animation telling a story of two struggling musicians (TWO-MIX) chasing a mysterious light across America. The MV is notable for its depiction of many US landmarks as the two chase this elusive light. The story portions are intercut with TWO-MIX (still animated) on a floating platform performing the song. The music, art and direction of the MV are excellent and I'd say superior to the majority of the JPop music videos of that time period. At the time of its release, it was quite possibly one of the best extras ever provided for a CD release.
In addition to the MV there is an approximately 20 minute long "Mega Mix" of several TWO-MIX songs with computer generated visual noise to pass the time. The song selection is decent but the visuals amount to nothing more than filler. For those with the "Best Files" CD, the dancing android makes an appearance in a few segments. The purpose of the entire mix is obviously to pad the running time of the DVD out.
The video is incredibly clean and it appears as if this piece was digitally colored. The audio is provided at 48kHz/16bit linear PCM for the purists. The menu system is basic, just letting you jump to the start of the MV and the various songs in the Mega Mix. Extras and, strangely, credits are non-existent. It comes in a clear keepcase with a track listing and lyrics for White Reflection on the reverse side of the cover.
As to the question of whether or not you should buy this: this release seems to be tailored specifically at fans of the MV that, like myself, have been looking for a higher quality copy of the video. For reference, the original Quicktime was 320x240 with 22kHz/8 bit mono sound. To those people, the video and audio quality should deliver everything you want. I can question the lack of credits or better extras (a "Making of" clip or possibly some short concert footage would have been nice) but ultimately, the MV is the point and the DVD delivers that.
