Yoshika Tanaka is no slouch when it comes to ambitious space operas, fantasies and anime, all wrapped into one. A new preview site has announced that Tanaka's Tytania has been green lit for a new anime television series will be hitting the airwaves in October. The author wrote three novels on the character and the site confirms that original illustrator Haruhiko Mikimoto (Macross, Megazone 23) will be leading the character designs for the new series. Noboru Sugimitsu (Legend of the Condor Hero) will adapt those designs for anime while veteran director Noboru Ishiguro will oversee animation through the Artland studios.
The series will start in October on NHK's BS-2 satellite channel. Each episode will run every Thursday at 11:32 p.m.
Plot Concept: Between 1988 and 1991, Tanaka wrote three novels about a soldier who flees the spacefaring Tytania empire and seeks refuge with a force leading a rebellion.
