Today at the WizardWorld comic book convention Marvel Comics announced that the next title in their popular Ultimates line will be ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR. The book will be co-written by Mark Millar (THE ULTIMATES) and Brian Michael Bendis (ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN), pencilled by Adam Kubert, inked by Danny Miki and colored by Dave Stewart.
"The original back in the sixties was a product of the Cold War, [the] 'we have to beat the commies into space [mentality]'," Millar was quoted as saying on the Wizard website. "This one is about one man, Reed, who is so crazy and brilliant and driven that he puts his friends at risk."
Millar also told the assembled crowd that Doctor Doom would definitely be a part of the Ultimate FF universe while Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada said that the family aspect of FF will be just as important, if not moreso, in ULTIMATE FF.
It was also revealed that David Mack (DAREDEVIL) will start co-writing ULTIMATE X-MEN with Bendis beginning with issue #45 and then taking completely over with issue #50.
