Universal and Platinum Dunes Go OUIJA

A few months back, Universal and Hasbro announced a new six-year partnership to bring their classic properties to life and it seems that fittingly, the supernatural game Ouji will be one of the first productions. HR is reporting that Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will produce alongside Universal and Hasbro in adapting the property. Dunes' David Berenbaum is in charge of penning the screenplay and Bennett Schneir, Hasbro's senior vp and managing director of motion pictures will oversee the project for Hasbro.

Plot Concept: Although the specific log line for the film is being kept under wraps, the film will be a supernatural adventure with the Ouija board playing an integral part of the story. The movie is not taking a "Jumanji"-like approach, which involved a game coming to life.

While divination or spiritual boards have been around for centuries, they began being sold as novelty items in the late 1800s, with the first Ouija board, one with an alphabet on it, being patented in 1890. Players' fingers are placed on a small planchette that mysteriously moves to letters and numbers in order to spell out messages from beyond the earthly realm.

Why doesn't Bay just remake “Witchboard” I mean he seems to wanna remake everything else and ruin it. What is one more horror rehash?

I have had some fucked up experiences with a ouija board...I think it could be pretty good if done right, but it may be a hard sell.

Seriously, Ouija Boards are not things to be messed with, even for movies. You might find that Set accidents are not really accidents!!!

I'll skip it. I'll wait for the snuff version of OPERATION.

Rick, lol.

I know I saw a film about a ouija board years back. It must be the one Mylspader is referring to. I know I liked it but haven't seen it in years, gonna have to look it up and rent or buy it.

Rick, ditto on LOL!
I wonder if they plan a teen type horror or a more adult picture.
Yeah, I've heard alot of people talk about scary experiences with Ouija boards. Some come from a strict Christian viewpoint and say it's demonic and others just got spooky responses that tripped them out. I haven't used one since I was a kid but I love the way they look. I think I'm gonna go google for one as my wallpaper.

LOL Rick! Love the Batboy pic, too, btw.

myklspader, that's exactly what I was thinking. Sounds like Witchboard.

I saw What Lies Beneath this weekend on cable. I forgot how good that movie was. Good scene with at Ouija board in that movie. But of course, Exorcist has the best Ouija scene ever. "Captain Howdy, that isn't very nice!"
