It seems that a Tarantino movie clocking in at two hours and 27 minutes isn't long enough for Universal's liking. A few days after Inglourious Basterds premiered at Cannes to early positive reviews, Variety's Anne Thompson has indicated on her blog that the co-distributor is talking to Quentin Tarantino about adding another scene to the final cut, which is expected to hit mass theaters in August.

Brad and Angelina seemed happy, as did an ebullient Quentin Tarantino, although TWC's 50/50 partner on the picture, Universal, UPDATE: is talking to the filmmaker about returning to the editing room post-Cannes to make some trims edits that might include adding a scene, says Tarantino, who reminds that the film, at two hours 27 minutes, is well under his contractual final cut length of two hours 48 minutes.

The long-awaited WWII blood fest features an ensemble cast including Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Melanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Bruhl, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Novak, Til Schweiger, Gedeon Burkhard, Paul Rust, Michael Bacall, Omar Doom, Sylvester Groth, Julie Dreyfus, Jacky Ido, August Diehl, Martin Wuttke, Richard Sammel, Christian Berkel, Sonke Mohring, Michael Fassbender, Mike Myers, Rod Taylor, Denis Menochet, Cloris Leachman, Maggie Cheung and Samuel L. Jackson. Quentin penned the script and director for The Weinstein Company and Universal Pictures.

Plot Concept: The story begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own...

Inglourious Basterds will hit theaters August 21, 2009.

All I know is this....3 weeks ago, when Star Trek came out, this trailer was attached to it. I seemed to be the only guy in the movie theater who knew what it was, as I let out a loud "woo" that was the only woo to be let out...

...until the preview was over.

People started hollering and clapping. This movie gonna be total Piper...as in "All outta bubblegum"

I agree guys. I am anticipating this one more than the big ones. Transformers 2, and Terminator. I just saw the new Trek today. I am proud to say that my old lady and I enjoyed it. I didn't know much about the history, but it seems they found a way around it and still made a good movie. At the end I was like thank god the Shat didn't show up to turn that movie into a pricline commercial.

Yes more more more !!! This movie looks crazy and twisted. I like when Pitt uses ridiculous accents makes him more of a freak. Kinda like Kalifornia and other movies where he comes across totally insane.

I've been looking forward to this , kinda like Dirty Dozen but more brutal and crazy with a wacky cast of characters.
