JUSTICE LEAGUE Script Finished!

What's even more impressive than the script for the Justice League movie being finished? According to Variety, Warner Bros actually likes the first draft script that was given to them from scribes Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney. That can only be good news for the fans eagerly awaiting the adaptation to the big screen.

There are still questions though.

As we know, the Nolans & Batman: The Dark Knight is currently filming already for a summer 2008 release. Bryan Singer is also working towards getting a sequel to Superman Returns in theaters by summer 2009. So the question remains on timing between all these factors for the upcoming Justice League movie.

I wish Warner Bros thought this one ahead of time before opening the doors of crossing over the characters. I still say it would have been perfect for Bale to have a scene in Superman Returns (especially when he's plastered all over the television upon saving the plane.). Singer did mention Gotham in the movie but that's about it. We can still hold out hope that Warner Bros will get the audience prepared by having Superman at least be "mentioned" in The Dark Knight.

Whatever the case, there are a lot of factors still in play for a Justice League movie to get off the production floor. Still great news to see the script finished and Warner Bros approving of it.

A Mighty Thanks to scooper DaForce for the headsup!

DJ, I think you know my thoughts on this one. I'd rather see a Justice League movie before seeing a Superman Returns sequel. Everything is starting to look like WB is pointing in that direction too, considering that it doesn't even look like Singer has a script for his sequel. Also, with what Iron Man looks like it's setting up (with the Nick Fury news), WB is going to have to start scrambling to get a team-based superhero movie up and running before Marvel announces an Avengers movie.

What happened to the Wonder Woman movie that Whedon was supposed to be helming? I know he's not doing it anymore just wondered what the stats were on this one preJLA movie...

I suggest they not tamper with the first draft. If it is that good... leave it alone--and go with it, instead of everybody playing chef!!! The latter is the reason why most movies suck these days...as opposed to series television, which has been producing better product on a weekly basis over the last decade or so. Why? They have less cooks in the kitchen to add their 5 cents in. When it comes to the big movies...besides the army of executives, directors who are coming and going...and adding their ideas...often out of ego, nothing else, worried investors, producers, tampering marketers, and actors who are involved...everybody from the producers' wives, to an executives' kids are involved in the process...thus, watering down...and destroying good scripts. However, tv scripts are made so fast...and episodes are shot so fast, that unnecessary people who would like to involve themselves in the process have very little time to muck things up--thus things often wind-up better as a result. So again, I would suggest that the executes forget about any further drafts and simply stick with the first draft of the script. Now the big issue is finding a proper director, somebody like Ridley Scott...and the right cast...hopefully, seasoned stage actors!!!

Mention Superman in "Dark Knight"? That's premature, and would ruin the serious tone that the films are trying to reach. Oh, don't worry, I'm sure that in time, Warner Bros. will ruin the franchise by making a "Justice League" movie, but why do they have to do it NOW? They should wait at least a few more years, let their two main franchises have a sequel or two under their respective utility belts. If they rush into it they'll have the equivalent of a Marvel movie on their hands (Daredevil, Ghost Rider, the Fantastic 4 Movies, *cough*Spider-Man 3*cough*). And nobody wants that.

This news is about 5 to 10 years too early. Superman Returns was a decent enough movie. Now that all of the love has been given to the Donner film/films it is time to really see what Bryan Singer can do for the franchise. Let is have it's time. Oh yeah, a Chriatian Bale cameo would be kind of fun, but not a Brandon Routh in TDK. Batman is definitely another issue. Batman is perfect in its new dark environment. That effort would be ruined by a justice league movie that will obviously suck, as all team ups do. Sure, put all the heroes in a movie focus on one ala..X-men. Good movies, but it was Wolverines show. Take Batman from the darkness brings back the days of Joel Schumacher and the second death of a franchise. Best advice for any fans or anyone interested in the JLA movie, take that brand new script and BURN IT before it destroys two franchises. Give each hero their own movie so that most of the can suck on their own and not hurt Superman or Batman.

Who gives a rats ass about Wonder Woman? Well I do if she is naked through out the whole movie but that is about as far as my interest goes...Wonder woman, lol ...

sharpe ... the WW movie got shelved after whedon decided he couldn’t get a grasp on the character. he made a good choice in stepping out (even though my interest was peaked with him at the helm) I don’t think it would have worked. now, who the hell cares if gotham is mentioned in the superman movies, or metropolis in the batman movies? that just ties the DC movies together. Now if we had batman or superman make DIRECT jabs at each other during the course of the films, that would send the film down a couple notches in respect. Now, as for a JLA movie, that takes A LOT of planning. i agree with metalwater on his post (to an extent) but i agree with jdnx01 on taking that script and (in his words "burning it" and in mine) shoving it so far up some studios ass that it is never seen, or found again. porblem solved. it is way to early to be preparing to ruin to franchises at once

I think the JLA only works in print or animated, a movie is not a good idea. In my opinion Batman Begins is one of the best movies ever made and I really did like Superman Returns. As for sequels, well it's not often you see the best in the movie world getting involved because it usually comes off exactly what it is.........a money maker and not a vital story element. There are obvious exceptions that I will not waste time mentioning but in a general sense, sequels are usually just plain bad. We all know that opinions like these will never stop terrible ideas from being filmed, but here's hoping JLA never is.
