While today seems to be a rather slow news day, some interesting speculation is going on within Hollywood and the trades this morning. It seems that word has been leaked of some changes happening between Warner Bros. and DC Comics and their partnership in bringing the comic properties to the big screen.

The trades
The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are speculating that it could be due to Marvel Studio's success thus far in having their properties released separately in the end game goal of having an Avengers team up. A Warner Bros. spokesman gave a quote to the trades on what's going on behind closed doors.

"While we are not going to go into the specifics of the meetings, we're constantly looking at how best to exploit the DC Comics characters and properties. DC is an incredibly valuable asset to Warner Bros. and plays an important role across the entire studio by providing development and franchise opportunities for all media, including films, television, home entertainment, animation, consumer products, video games and digital platforms."

This move, if it comes to fruition, is way over due. Let's hope DC can get their shit together and start crankin out more quality comic films in the vein of Batman Begins and the upcoming TDK.

Batman Begins was SO overrated. The key to DC films being successful is going to be to radically set them apart from the comics, and not take themselves seriously like those droll X-Men movies. I hope someone at WB has the insight to look to the Catwoman movie, or even the daring directions Schumaker took the Batman franchise.

In No way was Batman Begins 'overrated' Edit:....Ok, I get your sarcasm now.

NRollins, there's just so many things wrong with what you wrote.

Ya know, sarcasm just doesn't travel well in writing...

Nrollins, that is the funniest thing anyone has ever posted on Mania, EVER! I mean, Wow! But honestly, I think I can speak for everyone at Mania by saying that is probably the most ridiculous set of statements ever posted. Actually, I hope the WB does look at Catwoman and Schumacher`s Batman and put them up there as "What You Should Not do!" when it comes to comic book movies. What they need to do is play Iron Man on huge screens in their creative teams offices to get a little inspiration from my boys Favreau and RDJ.

Key word being "exploit" in that sentence. That's why they keep making shit after shit. Thank Nolan for giving us Batman and saving DC from full disgrace.
If they treat their property with care they'll make money and be able to have a franchise.
I don't understand why they would need to break apart instead of just giving DC full control of the comic properties but whatever. If that's what it takes to get some good stuff done then so be it.
Marvel already has their game plan set, DC needs to do the opposite. Start with Justice League and then work your way to spinning off movies for GL, Flash, Wonder Woman etc. Oh, and get Alfonso Cuaron to direct one of the franchises, we already saw he worked magic into the WB's Harry Potter.

They should just hand Christopher Nolan a pad, a pen and a large wad o' cash, and say, "Please please please just write down an outline on how to make a superhero movie. Please?"

hmmmm “how best to exploit the DC Comics characters and properties.†Maybe they should start by thinking about respecably bringing their characters and properties to the screen, insTEAD OF EXPLOITING THEM!!! Yeah I figure it’s a ...well figure of speech, but still to say we want to exploit our characters, NOT the right approach. JMHO
