In the biggest non-announcement of the week category, actress Kirsten Dunst has told MTV that she's "in" for a Spider-Man 4 before realizing that Columbia Pictures has yet to make an official press release statement on the fourth and fifth installments. We're still not sure why Sony hasn't come out yet because Maguire and Raimi have reportedly signed on the dotted lines to return in the next installments being fleshed out by screenwriter James Vanderbilt, who is drafting a tale to be told over a two film period of time.

“I’m in,” said the actress matter of factly. However, when pressed to make the announcement official, Dunst quickly changed her tone, and rather cryptically added, “I’m not saying anything, I know there’s rumors…”

She has been adamant about her return to the franchise pending the returns of Maguire and Raimi. If they're back, she will be back. Sony has also said that there was no plans to write her character out or replace her after the last bit of rumors confirmed the two but not Dunst.

The actress made the announcement while promoting her latest feature film How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. Co-star Simon Pegg also joked around about the news.

“I’m in ‘Spider-Man!’” joked Pegg. “I play Mary Jane’s brother. He comes to New York from the university, and he says, ‘Hey, what are you doing hanging out with that web-crawler?’”

Obviously, the latter quote isn't true but the former bit from Dunst implies she's ready to sign if her opposites are indeed signed on for more Spidey adventures.

for me, it didn't matter if SHE came back to the series...I would have supported her recast or re-imagined....

Damn!! I bet we are all sooo Happy that she is coming back. NOT! I was really hoping that her personal problems would get the role of MJ recast. If that sounds mean, then good. I don`t like her as MJ. I don`t want anything bad to happen to her or something, but after the whole shit she stirred up before Spidey 3 and her disdain for the fans and the material, not to mention she acts nothing like MJ, I would be happy to be rid of her. Spidey 4 Wishlist 1)No Dunst 2)Someone who can act and actually look like a model cast as MJ 3)Kraven the Hunter 4)No Venom 5)No more sappy crappy forgiveness themes

I do have a thing for Kristin D. I guess I don't care if she is a hardcore bitch IRL. I still pull out my VHS copy of get over it every once in awhile to watch it. I guess I would say I am in the movie too to make sure I am asked to be in it. Let's face it she needs to be in it to kill her off or it's another Katie Holmes problem which was one of the flaws in Batman this time around.

Spider-Man 4 Wishlist

1. Gwen Stacy & Mary Jane make out and get down & dirty with each other.

I have been disappointed with the series since Dunst was rumored to play Mary Jane. Spider-Man 2 was the only one I enjoyed on any level only from the action scenes but I've never been a Spider-Man fan or follower outside of the cartoons from my childhood. But if hanso gets his wish, I'll be there.

1) No snaggletooth (I hate Dunst) 2) NO MORE FUCKING SPIDEY-NIGHT FEVER BULLSHIT (which leads to) 3) No more Raimi - it's time he move on - 1 more film and he's going to start putting nipples on the costume.

I just hope they give MJ something to do other than get into trouble, scream and then have Spidey save her. That got a little annoying by part 3. I don't mind Dunst, just give her something to do.
