September 11, 2006 - According to Variety, MGM plans to once again start making and financing tentpole movies and will begin with various highly anticipated projects.

The article states that over the next few years MGM plans to release about six tentpoles, some of which will be budgeted in the $150 to $200 million range.

Some of the films mentioned are: THE HOBBIT , TERMINATOR 4 and a sequel to THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR which would star Pierce Brosnan.

April 7, 2006 - The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that producer Andy Vajna said, TERMINATOR 4 could very possibly be shot in Australia -- and most likely without Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Vajna stated, "We were thinking about Australia. We have been looking at the Warner Bros Studios down there but it is early days." He went on to note, "We would like Arnie in it as a cameo... But I am not sure where he is with his politics and all that, we will see."

September 24, 2004 - A fourth TERMINATOR movie could be rolling in front of cameras as early as next year, reports today's Variety. T3 writers John Brancato and Michael Ferris have a screenplay draft that's ready to go and the film's producers, Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna, want to re-up RISE OF THE MACHINES helmer Jonathan Mostow to come back and do the fourth film. Intermedia, the film production and financing firm that assembled the mega-budgeted T3 project, is starting to draw the strings and work out how much they'll have to make the sequel.

Perhaps the most startling and biggest idea is a plan to seek Arnold Schwarzenegger to come back for a fourth time. Schwarzenegger currently has his hands full as the Governor of California but the early word is that the T4 production would have need of him in a reduced capacity and not as a major player, lending weight to the rumors that a new Terminator model will become the main villain and perhaps even the hero. Whether any of the surviving characters from T3 or their acting counterparts (Nick Stahl, Claire Danes) would be back in the new TERMINATOR hasn't been revealed.

Making a Terminator 4 without Arnold Schwarzenegger is a bad idea. I am a little curious where they are going to go with the story with the way the third one ended though.

Bring it on! I love the Terminator universe and have been waiting to see more of the bleak future and what happens after the fall of Skynet, and all of the in-between stuff that has only been alluded to in the other movies. Let's see how the surviving humans learn to fight back and they have to go through in their struggle for existence.

That being said, let's see some more of the Colonial Marines from Aliens. That movie ROCKED! James Cameron has a fantastic eye for character and action. I wish he'd get back into Terminator or Aliens.
