Blunt Confirms IRON MAN 2 No-Show

Actress Emily Blunt confirmed for The Orlando Sentinel that she's not appearing in 'Iron Man 2'.

"It's a little disappointing is all I can say," Blunt said, "because I just have to do this Fox movie, and it's fine and I'm gonna have fun. The whole beginning of the year has been rather dramatic, so I'd just rather go in with fresh eyes and know that I've made the right decision. You just don't know until it's all finished and done with, do you?"

By "this Fox Movie" she's referring to 'Gulliver's Travels', which she was contractually obligated to do, and which caused the scheduling conflict with the Marvel movie.

Thanks to Antonello Blueberry for the submission.

Superman Concept Art from the pre-RETURNS efforts by Phil Saunders

On his blog, artist Phil Saunders has posted a concept painting he did of the failed 'Superman' movie project that pre-dated 'Superman Returns'. Saunders revealed he started on the project when Brett Ratner was director and left the project shortly after McG took the reins. His work was based on the JJ Abrams script, which was reportedly kinda goofy.

Saunders writes:

"This is about as un-dynamic a composition as you can come up with, but Production Designer Owen Patterson wanted a straight one-point perspective view of Superman facing off against the Rouser (a Japa... er, Kryptonian Battle Pod, don't ask) so you could compare scale. I had fun designing the Rouser, though. "

Duncan Wants to Return to SIN CITY

While interest in a 'Sin City' sequel seems to have all but cooled entirely, actor Michael Clarke Duncan said he wouldn't mind revisiting Frank Millers' hard-boiled town.

"You know what? I have not been approached," Duncan told MTV Splash Page while out doing press rounds on 'Street Fighter'. "But I know all the bloggers are saying I’d be the perfect choice to come back as Manute."

Duncan played the role in the first movie, but the character appears prominently in 'A Dame to Kill For' which has widely been reported as being part of the sequel's storyline.

"I’d love to come back as Manute. Working with Robert Rodriquez was really cool. He’s the type of director that goes around playing his guitar all day, he doesn’t holler, he doesn’t fuss, he doesn’t fight, he’s a real mellow director," Duncan said.

Thanks to Antonello Blueberry for the submission.

Don't really think Abrams is the movie god that most do, but it looks like it would've been one hell of a battle

I would have rather saw that than Superman Returns....which still sucks Shirley Mansons balls as far as I'm concerned.

Blunt out sucks...but that means she can be Catwoman now without conflict of interests.  There are a lot of hot chicks that can be the black widow...how about that chick from the shopaholic movie?  She already has the red hair.

I would LOVE to see Michael Clarke Duncan as Manute.  I second the motion!

Calling Abrams' Superman script "kinda goofy" is like saying the U.S. economy right now is kinda shaky.  Now I like Abrams and I can't wait to see what his version of Star Trek is like, but everything I've read online about his Superman script sounded like a cataclysmic catastrophe.  I'm glad WB didn't go ahead and use his script, though I don't really know at what point this scene would have been in the movie.  I'm guessing it would have been somewhere near the super-battle at the end of the film.

Yeah Alias was a good show and MI 3 was great but STAR TREK is just making my eyes want to fall victim to Ruter Hauers fingers in BLADE RUNNER. What is he thinking? The costumes and CGI are NAMBLAriffic.

Cloverfield wreaks of bad ideas. But the art is cool for this Superman scene.

Famke Potemke could pull off Back Widow.

At least Abram's script actually had SuperMan FIGHTING a SUPER VILLIAN, instead of getting kicked around by lex luthor while he was weak.

AMiSHPiRATE 3/2/2009 5:52:59 AM

high five, xenomorph.  Goofy or not, I'd take Superman actually fighting anything other then falling shards of glass over the snoozefest that was superman returns any day.

SONYMANswallows 3/2/2009 4:52:12 PM

What you mean is at most JJ Abrams script had him fighing a different Super Villain other than Lex Luthor.

JJ would probably cast James UnderCock as Nuclear Man with the voice of Michael Ontkean cause thats his idea of source material.

Yeah falling shards of glass right I gues kryptonite is stuck in some people's minds under the paradigm of being a lazer or baseball size rock. But the plane and machine gun scenes were a good time. And Singer never said it was an action fest. He always stated the 2nd film would be the Action fest. But now everyone is cryin about what they already knew. Oh boo hoo.

Wiseguy 3/3/2009 5:34:57 AM

I don't recall what Abram's Superman script was about. The only one I heard that turned my stomach was one that Lex was his brother. If that was Abram's then I'm glad it never got made even though it meant having to suffer and still suffering over SR, his brat, shitty actress skeletor Lois, land grabbing Lex, etc.

The lack of action was the least of SR's problems.

Would love to have Duncan back as Manute if they ever get going with SC2. Plus maybe it'll erase memories from Duncan in Street Fighter.

I wasn't that vested in Blunt as BW so I don't mind her being out. There are better choices out there.
