Superman Homepage grabbed an exclusive sneak peak of the character designs for the up-coming animated series Legion of Super-Heroes.

The animated series will appear on the new CW network. CW will be replacing WB and UPN this fall. CW is a joint venture between Warner Bros and CBS, with each company owning an equal 50% stake. The C apparently stands for CBS and the W for Warner. Creativity at its finest.

The plot for the show reads as follows: One thousand years from now, a group of teenage super heroes travel back in time to recruit the greatest hero of all, Superman, and enlist him their fight against evil in the 31st Century. While their intentions were good, their time travel skills were not. Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, Phantom Girl, Bouncing Boy and Timber Wolf end up going too far back into the past, accidentally retrieving the young Superboy instead. Together, this unlikely Legion of Super Heroes bands together to defend the rights of all free worlds and uphold the laws of the newly formed United Planets. That is, if they don't kill each other first. Legion Of Super Heroes combines humor with high-stakes, grand-scale super heroics to create the ultimate sci-fi, super hero fantasy for kids of all ages. Each episode of this fast-paced, character-driven action comedy will pit Superboy and the Legion against otherworldly threats and adversaries who challenge the team on both super heroic and emotional levels.

You can view the sneak peak picture containing the characters here.

no offense to LEGION fans, but their names sounds really dorky. Come on Bouncing Boy.

Oh come on. Of all the members of Legion available, they had to use Bouncing Boy? Give me a break. Gotta have that kiddy comedy relief type character. Sheesh.

More Dredge from the Bottom of the Barrel.

Idiots.

The "plot"? That's not a plot, that's a high-concept pitch, overflowing with hype. It doesn't even resemble a plot. I thought they wanted to get away from the ridiculousness that was Teen Titans. And why the Pre-Crisis Legion? The concept was completely reworked fifteen years ago, and again just last year. This doesn't follow the current comic at all. The kiddie types that this prod is sniffing after won't have any memory of the Pre-Crisis version, if they've any knowledge of the Legion at all, it's going to be something more recent.

Did you guys catch the Legion on Justice League Unlimited the week before last? That ep featured Bouncing Boy prominently.

I always thought he was sweet. The pudgy and kind of ordinary looking Chuck Taine was an affermation that superheros didn't have to be thin and beautiful to be heroic.

No offense to Legion...I'm sure it will be amusing, if not a big childish like Teen Titans. But we lose JLU, maybe the best comic-based cartoon yet, and get this? What is wrong with this world?

I always liked Bouncing Boy too Karas and for the same reasons. As for the series as a whole, I will wait til I see before commenting.

What a suprise, someone bitching about the names.

On the other hand a thought has accured to me. Why are they taking the "snatch Superboy" pre-Crisis direction when a recent JLU episode basically was a pilot for any new Legion series? Makes no sense.
