Update: Bay Back on TRANSFORMERS 2

Update: I'm providing an update to yesterday's story of Michael Bay rejecting TRANSFORMERS 2 news. As I wrote in the original article's comments and hinted inside the article, a retraction was on the way from Bay. He was angry yesterday(leading all news sites to speculate) that Paramount & Dreamworks decided to drop Blu-Ray for future movies and sign an exclusive deal with HD-DVD. He wrote a post out on his official forums sayingn as much including a bit about not doing the sequel. When I checked his forums, I noticed he deleted it so I wrote the first article saying as much. Bay has done this kind of thing before...Writing an angry blog on his official site and when news sites jumped on it, he took the blog post off as quickly as he could.

Anyway, here's what Bay wrote in a new post today retracting his stance on not doing TRANSFORMERS 2.

Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three Blu-Ray owners, they were pissed about no Transformers Blu-Ray and I drank the kool aid hook line and sinker. So at 1:30 in the morning I posted - nothing good ever comes out of early am posts mind you - I over reacted. I heard where Paramount is coming from and the future of HD and players that will be close to the $200 mark which is the magic number. I like what I heard.

As a director, I'm all about people seeing films in the best quality possible, and I saw and heard firsthand people upset about a corporate decision.

So today I saw 300 on HD-DVD, it rocks!

So I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2!

Michael Bay

Basically, it comes down to what we were discussing yesterday. Bay's just like everyone else on the net, he can over react on occasions and write out an angry blog or post when he wants to...especially in the early AM hours.

No, No, No ! He didn't !!!! Paramount / Dreamworks just made it clear to him that if he went down this route then he would never, ever direct another movie for them. He folded.

Thank God...I just LOVE Michael Bay so much...I just hope that the 2nd time around MORE robots piss and Prime says "My bad" at LEAST three times.

What a difference a year makes. Last summer, everyone was moaning over his involvement. NOW everyone is sweating bullets as to wether he'll drop out of doing the sequel!
I might just buy an HD-DVD player to appreciate Ironhide doing his Neo thang.
I don't think the format should really affect a director's career. Did any director side with Beta?

Not everybody originaldave77...put your nose in REAL close to last post, and you'll smell the sarcasm.

Maybe two robots can make out laying on a Cybertron Beach while Good Charlotte plays in the background . . .

we can get a series of explosions happening all around a battlefield, causes huge clouds of black smoke that partially conceal the nearly identical looking swarms of Autobot and Deception armies clashing during the penultimate battle of good versus evil . . .

as Galvatron blasts apart nameless Autobot after nameless Autobot (yet, someone, the human character keeps JUST dodging out of the way with his trusty dog) we can see a young Hot Rod tell a wounded Ultra Magnus "I'll make you believe in the matrix" and then proceeds in a slow motion charge at Galavatron with exciting music rising to a crescendo in the background . . .

oh, and definitely more US Military showing off their stuff - can't get enough of that pro-military showmanship!

originaldave77, I was "moaning" over the fact that someone was even going to MAKE this film - THEN I heard who was making it - THEN I saw the piece of crap. No sequel is music to my ears, and I wish it were true.

Merin - if they have 2 robots making out laying on a Cybertron beach, the only song to go with is "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel...hey, that would work great...Prime could hold Blaster above his head as he plays the song for RC, just like Cusack did in "Say Anything."

If Bay's directing, then the beach scene on Cybertron will involve an Aerosmith song and animal crackers used in foreplay. Shudder. Damn you Bay!
