Update: Who Could Be the New SPIDER-MAN?

Update: Sony has told ComingSoon that there is no truth to the below rumors and that Tobey Maguire is still Spider-Man. Amazing that they can respond to these news reports for our sites but can't put out an official press release on their own, which would stop the speculation in the first place...
And let the speculation truly begin on who will be replacing Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. True, we have no confirmations that Tobey, Kirsten and director Raimi are out of the franchise yet but with LR launching a rumor last week that screenwriter James Vanderbilt has turned in a script to Sony spanning two films and with the latest Latino Review rumor saying they even have two names on some list as possible replacements, the window is closing here on Tobey's return.
It should also be noted that Maguire has a full slate of projects on the near horizon with his own production company and none of them have the words "Spider-Man" on them. Same goes for director Sam Raimi, who's adapting Terry Goodkind's fantasy series Wizards's First Rule into a television series and is now in charge of launching a new Jack Ryan movie franchise for Paramount.
Kelvin and El Mayimbe claim that sources within the pre-production have the two names as possibles for the new Peter Parker.
Patrick Fugit (from Wristcutter and Almost Famous)
Michael Angarano (from Sky High and The Forbidden Kingdom)
Of course, Tobey, Kirsten and Sam may all be back and this may be filed under Movie Rumor Control for now. When Sony sends out something of a confirmation, we'll pass it along...

I know he probably would not do it, but I was thinking Ryan Gosling as Peter Parker or even Jake Gyllenhal if you are going for someone who looks sort of like Tobey Maguire.
As long as they replace Dunst, with someone who is actually hot enough to play Mary Jane, I'll be happy. MJ wasn't really that deep of a character until after they got married.
