Update: As mentioned in our Green Lantern story from earlier today, Jessica Biel is out of the running for WONDER WOMAN in the upcoming JLA movie. Entertainment Weekly is reporting the actress passed on the project. This may or may not be true. Biel might have seen the public reaction and decided to pass on the project or WB could have been acting on the same principals. In either case, this is most likely why WB has said they will refuse to announce any cast members attached until they have the whole superhero team. Until then, "Rumor Control" continues...
Here's the previous story posted earlier in the week:
Well, there goes aussie actress Victoria Hill's hopes of being the next Amazonian princess. Yesterday, we passed along the news that she has auditioned for the role and today, we're passing along that it may be too little, too late for the actress. Variety is now reporting that Warner Bros has an eye on who they want for the next WONDER WOMAN in their JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA film set for theaters in summer 2009. The trade is reporting that WB and Jessica Biel are reaching a potential deal which would fill one of the six major characters in the film. The other five being Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Flash & Green Lantern.
Variety did ask for a confirmation on the Biel casting and WB shot back that they would prefer to announce the whole cast at one time rather then leaking out casting news one character at a time.
It was previously assumed we would get relative unknowns for the roles in this upcoming adaptation of the Justice League. It could be that this casting was planned by the studio because Warner Bros has confirmed that they hope to launch franchises of WONDER WOMAN and FLASH out of this JLA movie. They would want to get an established actress for a role in which they hope to expand into its own franchise. If this is the case, then the Ryan Reynolds as Flash speculation may not be far off base here. Speaking of which, Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds were both co-stars in BLADE: TRINITY.
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA hits theaters everywhere summer 2009.

But as you all know I have HUGE reservations about some skinny lil athletic actress trying to take on the role of the Mighty Amazonian Princess.
She's got a great ass, but she is no Wonder Woman.
