Update: No More Bootleg, New KNIGHT Posters

By: Jarrod Sarafin
Date: Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Update: As expected, the trailer was yanked this afternoon. As pointed below, expect the official version online later, which we'll pass along then. In the meantime, you can check out the new international banner on the left by clicking on the photo and see more right here.

Original: I think you all know my thoughts on watching bootlegs of these trailers but I'll put this up in case you don't want to wait for the official trailer to appear online this Sunday at WhySoSerious/HappyTrails, which is the expected debut date. Fans from around the world took part in the marketing clues.

Plot Summary: "The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

The Dark Knight
will hit standard and IMAX theaters July 18, 2008.

Sweet like a 18 year old virgin, a piece of candy or like a piece of fruit because if it's sweet like a piece of candy some diabetics may have a problem watching this but if it's sweet like a piece of fruit I think that might be good for sugar balance and to take this a step further, if it is sweet like a 18 year old virgin (16 in some states of legal consent) then all I can say is SCHWING!!! I prefer the latter, don't you? Save me Jebus!

Like an idiot I stayed up for like 2 extra hours trying to decipher those crazy riddles and unlock that damn vault with the trailer in it.
Thank goodness for bootleggers!
Sweet is not the word. I can not wait for this. I don`t need to see another trailer. I just want to see the damn movie! I am also glad that they haven`t downplayed the Joker since Ledger`s death. He is still right, front and center. I honestly barely noticed Harvey Dent in this trailer. Its all about the Clown Prince of Crime!
"You look nervous."

Fuck all, this shit owns everything ever made!!! Harvey Dent going to get burneeedddd. You guys see the gasoline and then Dent's face? I guess he lives long enough to see himself become the villain. Ledger kicks ass, I will never be skeptic about a casting by Nolan again. Dude can cast Britney Spears as The Riddler and I won't doubt. Oh shit, I think I just wet my pantss, not because of Spears as the Riddler idea but because this movie is going to be fucking awesome. Pardon my language but the trailer is just that fuckin sweet. Bring on the movie now pleaseeeeee!! The trailer should be up on Sunday on the website. the Dark Knight owns youuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!

hanso,

Great point in mentioning Dent's line about living long enough to become a villain. I didn't think to consider the irony of that line, even with the gasoline spilling and Dent screaming. Ledger seems to deliver one great line after another, and I think my favorite of his lines so far in these trailers is his "Here's my card" early in this one. I can't believe I have to suffer for 2 1/2 more months before this is released!!!

The people in that theater are mad loud yo!
Watching the trailer again, kind of makes me sad, because Ledger`s Joker is obviously just starting his reign of terror and with the things he says about Gotham needing a better class of bad guy, you could tell this wouldn`t be the only time the Joker showed up in a Batman movie. Now, that Ledger is gone, will they recast for next installment of the franchise. He is just so damn good as Joker!

myklspader • Apr 29, 2008, 06:25am •
Pony, I read somewhere online that Nolan has no intent on recasting Joker. Then again, I guess if they found someone who could take it to the next level then they should, but out of respect for the way Ledger handled the role then I agree with Nolan and letting it be a legacy for his work.

If they were to recast, who would be it? I would say (though a little too old) Day-Lewis or even Crispin Glover would be awesome. To bad Cillian Murphy has already been used in the series.
