The first Scream is all kinds awesome and responbisible for bringing back the horror genre in the mid 90s but the sequels sucked.
They already spoofed 80s slasher films, are they gonna do the "torture porn" films in this new trilogy?

Update: Kevin Williamson has confirmed what we guessed yesterday. Entertainment Weekly was wrong when they placed the word "reboot" in their article title.
The writer confirmed on his Twitter the following:
-"It is a sequel. Scream 4. The first chapter of a new trilogy."
-"It is not a remake. It is a sequel."
Original: If writer-director Kevin Williamson gets his way, audiences could be seeing new Scream films hitting theaters sometime in the near future. Entertainment Weekly is reporting the writer is fleshing out a potential new trilogy with a plan to bring back some of the characters from the original three films.
That is, of course, if they agree to come back. While EW reports that Williamson has approached Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette to gage their interests in returning, some schedule conflicts will need to be worked out first. For one Cox had her pilot "Cougar Town" picked up recently by ABC. There was also no mention of Wes Craven's interest in returning behind the camera for this potential new batch of horror films, nor was there any confirmation of Neve Campbell's character being part of the story.
It should also be noted that the magazine had the word "reboot" in the title of their news scoop. How the film falls under the reboot category with Williamson wanting the same actors back adds more questions to the equation. Or perhaps EW slipped up by using the word. Check out the details in the link above.

No. No. No. First two movies rocked. Third (without Williamson writing) was just ok. If he wrote, and Craven directed, I might give it a chance. Otherwise, forget it. Why bother? Really, why bother in any case, even if they do both come back?
I think it's a reboot in the sense the original characters aren't the main focus. It'll probably be like the new 90210 or Melrose Place. None of this makes me want to see this, however...
Thanks to Scream, which was great, we got Final Destination, Urban Legends, I know What You Did Last Summer and all their horrible sequels (ok some where a little fun, that's the most I can say). Scream didn't revive the horror genre it turned it into a continuous Dawson's Creek in hell by turning all horror into a teenage frenzy.
The first scream was great. The two sequels sucked. And it's kind of hard for a killer to scare you over the phone with caller I.D, Star 6 9, and caller blocking.
But why?
