Updated: How Long Before Your Shows Go Dark?

By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
Date: Friday, December 14, 2007
Source: Ausiello Report at TV Guide

Ausiello has once again updated his list of shows that are remaining before they go dark. Some shows aren't on the list because production companies have been quiet on how many shows were produced and filmed, especially shows set for early 2008. Ausiello didn't add BATTLESTAR GALACTICA on the list but we know they had 10 episodes shot and ready pre-November 1st (the WGA deadline) and Ronald Moore planned to film the 11th episode, set to be the mid-season finale, near the Thanksgiving holidays. If he had that 11th episode filmed in time, then we can expect 11 shows of BSG. All the shows of THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES were filmed so that full season begins next year as well.

Here's the list as of 12/14/07.

24: Delayed until after the WGA strike so Fox can air 24 episodes in order.

I have a lot more to look forward to than I expected. Nice.

Still, with the DGA starting to turn nasty eyes at the WGA, I hope the studios at least throw a pity bone to the Writers for it looks like the studios have won.

I wish I knew where "Journeyman", "LIFE" and "Moonlight" were as to if there are anymore left and if between low ratings and the WGA strike they are basically canceled already.

I'd trade any of those shows for the putrid "Lost" or other dreck like "Pushing Daisies". Shit, the promos for the the latter look so retarded you have to be a drooler to want to watch it. Who are the retards watching that crap?

Was that too opinionated? Let me try again:

The people who created, write, star-in and watch "Carpoolers" or "Cavemen" ought to be taken out and shot, or barring that be sterilized so they don't pass their clearly recessive genes onto another generation.

Wait, was that too harsh? Mmm... let me try one more time:

I wish I believed in Hell because there should be a special ring in to for the people that waste our airwaves on ABC's crapfests like "Desperate Housewives", "Ugly Betty" or the satanic "Gray's Anatomy". May you all fans of that become McKrispy!

/Man, I gotta cut back on my caffeine...

Journeyman has 2 more to air next week on Monday and then Wednsday and then it's done. I mean for good, I don't think it's been ordered for a full season. Life & Moonlight I don't know about.

I read yesterday that the time for NBC to order new episodes of Journeyman has passed, and they haven't done so. It's not an official cancellation, but it may as well be.

Life may have a chance of surviving. After the last new episode of Bionic Woman, NBC put Deal or No Deal in its slot leading into Life. Apparently this move got Life significantly higher ratings than the Bionic Woman ever did. Which is good news for Life, not-so-good news for Bionic Woman.

I hope when the strike is over someone picks up Journeyman, I am really getting into that show.
I agree with ELVISGUMP, who the hell watches some of this crap? How does a show like Caveman even stay on the air when great shows get the axe after 2 or 3 episodes?

If NBC drops Journeyman another network has to step up, the show can't be that expensive. It's time travel without the technology.

Yes!! Full season of The Shield :) which means Nip/Tuck is in the can also!!

Now can the strike please end so I can get a full season of Lost?!!

snallygaster • Dec 14, 2007, 08:45am •
mike, ironically shows like Cavemen are staying on the air mostly due to the writer's strike. The networks have been very hesitant to remove any scripted shows from the lineup - no matter how low the ratings - simply because they need to buy time to throw together replacement programming (mostly reality shows). If the networks had an assortment of new scripted shows waiting in the wings for a hole in the schedule, the likes of Cavemen and other low-rated shows would have been dropped awhile ago.

I'll step up as one of the "droolers".

I LOVE _Pushing Daisies_. It's second only to _Journeyman_ in the list of best new shows this year, IMO. It's a whimsical fantasy detective show with brilliant dialogue, quirky characters, and sublime narration by Jim Dale. (Mr. Dale did the reading and voice-acting for all the Harry Potter audiobooks.) It's an extremely FUN show, and I highly recommend it.

You guys remember fun, right?

I find it comforting that different people like different kinds of shows and that shows for lots of different tastes are provided.

And I find it irritating that some people are so judgemental that they have to heap derision on others who like different TV shows than they do.

NBC gave Life and Chuck a full season order, so if the strike is ever settled, more episodes of each will be produced.
