I actually watched about 2 hours of that PS4 announcement yesterday..didnt really learn anything..saw some cool games. They did talk about being able to stream games from the ps1, 2 and 3 though...so you can play your old favorites as well as the new ones. They also talked about background downloads...you can buy a game and play it instantantly while its downloading in the background...without having to wait for the whole thing to download.

I am with Hanso, i own all systems, including hand-helds, plus own a desktop PC that I keep upgraded at top levels...I admit it, I have a technology addiction!!

One thing I dont understand is the outcry on the price.  You are basically getting a PC system worth close to $1K for just over $500 (minus the large memory storage)...on top of that, you dont have to spend a cent upgrading your system for a very long time (PS3 2006 - 2013).  In that time I have spent over $3K on system, hardware and accessory upgrades on my PC.

The only reason I run both is I prPC gaming for FPS, RTS and MMORPGs while console is best for Adventure, Sports and fun, quirky games to keep me entertained.

I cant see anyone with sense buying this game at this time when gas prices are at $4 a gallon , jobs getting cut when many have already game consoles they enjoy like PS3 that can stream movies an play blu-ray. yeah the price will be high an the games just the same . When toys get this expensive , you must make the best choice  either bills or a PS4 ?

Domino, Please stop griping over $4  petrol prices I had to pay $11.69 a gallon this week in the UK. That is really rubbing our noses in it.

But you are right who can afford these things at these prices (ANSWER = those who still have jobs). Maybe a year or two from now when SOny drops thye price.

I have a Wii U for the kids, and who knows if they will get me to buy anything else, but the truth is the biggest factor on me getting a new game system will be news from Valve and the STEAMBOX, if they can reach the same pricepoint as Microsoft or Sony they win in my book. I have steam at home running on a decent PC laptop, a great imac, and an older CPU converted to linux, I get to share games across all systems every christmas I get a game from one of my friends when you pay whole price for a game but get multiple copies, really it is the marketplace that always amazes me.
