According to an anonymous sender, independent film producers Chris Moore and Craig Falzone have optioned the movie rights for Steven Grant's crime/horror comic book series MORTAL SOULS. Our scooper tells us that Falzone has already written a MORTAL SOULS screenplay and is in the process of shopping it around to various Hollywood studios and production companies, hoping that it will attract interested partners.
Published by Avatar Press, MORTAL SOULS is the story of police detective Eric Sharpe, a man who has the ability to identify what Hebrew Qabalists called "Qelipoth" or "husks of the dead": living bodies that have lost their souls and are now evil beings that seek to inflict pain and torment upon the living. Grant, a veteran comic book writer, has worked on a number of titles for DC Comics, Marvel and other publishers including SUPERMAN, CATWOMAN, ROBOCOP and THE PUNISHER.
An email query asking for confirmation or denial of the rumor was sent to Grant two days ago, with no acknowledgement received as of yet. If our mysterious informant is reading these words, drop us a line with a means of contacting you. Remember: a Hotmail email account is a scooper's best friend.
UPDATE!: Writer Steven Grant has confirmed that MORTAL SOULS has been optioned by Blue Cactus Pictures. We'll have more about this breaking news story shortly.
