Here is the teaser trailer for Johnny Depp’s Transcendence. The film is directed by Wally Pfister (cinematographer for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy) and will be his directorial debut.

Synopsis: Dr. Will Caster is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn and friend Max, both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can... but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will's thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power—to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

Transcendence features Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins, Jr., and Morgan Freeman.

Transcendence arrives April 18th, 2014.

Hmm.  Will Johnny get his mojo back with something different from his recent fare?    I'm intrigued in a really good way.

 Looks pretty cool so far.

You know what else would be cool?  If Staples would finish fixing my damn laptop and give it back to me so I can stop having to rely on smartphone and Kindle Fire.  And occasionally my old Dell laptop that's like eight years old and sometimes works when it feels like it.  Seriously, they've had my HP now for three weeks and it very well be another week before I get it back.  Does it really take that long to swap out a hard drive?  I know they're busy, but for f.u.c.k.s sake...

Totally screwed up my plan of doing all my Christmas shopping electronically this year.

Looks awesome, this has been hyped since it was put into motion and I'm really looking forward to Wally Pfister's debut as a director. They certainly spared no expense on the cast!

sensing a little bit of "Virtuosity" in this film. I am curious to see if the "grey goo" apocalypse theory is being applied to some extent within the plot.

we shall see

Meh. Been there done that. Nothing here that juices me up for this

Wiseguy, I've read a couple books along these lines...but I don't see anything in this trailer that screams "I've been done before."  I think it looks pretty interesting.  And pretty sinister for Depp.  Along the lines of Secret Window.

I can't think of anything else like this that I've seen except for the series Caprica, which has a remarkably similar story as this trailer shows.
