Urban Vision Launches New Label
Date: Thursday, December 01, 2005We are proud to announce the formation of AsiaVision, a new line that will specialize in the theatrical and direct-to-video distribution of live-action Asian films, beginning with its first release streeting on DVD in March of 2006. Over the last ten years, we have built a strong presence in the Asian film industry through a strategic alliance with the Japanese animation studio Mad House, leading to the co-production and successful release of such anime titles as "VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST" and "NINJA SCROLL: THE SERIES." Likewise with AsiaVision, we will utilize our focused resources overseas to bring the American market the very best in live-action Asian filmmaking.
AsiaVision will feature a blend of horror, action and drama, including the film "CURSE, DEATH & SPIRIT," from one of today's hottest horror directors, Hideo Nakata ("Ringu", "The Ring Two"). In the Spring of 2006, we will release our first theatrical film nationwide, the Japanese blockbuster "AZUMI". The film, directed by Ryuhei Kitamura ("Versus", "Godzilla: Final Wars"), has grossed over 7 million dollars in international theatrical
release to date.
We look forward to your support and input as we prepare to once again introduce American film fans to a new vision in the world of Asian cinema. With the recent successes of Asian films and Hollywood remakes, the American appetite for the genre is growing rapidly. We are confident that AsiaVision will give all of you an opportunity to satisfy your customers' cravings by offering a new experience in Asian-film entertainment.
