According to Variety, USA Network has given THE DEAD ZONE, starring Anthony Michael Hall, a sixth-season pickup of 13 episodes. Also, PSYCH has chalked up a second-season renewal of 16 episodes.

USA previously renewed MONK for its sixth season of 16 episodes and THE 4400 for its fourth season of 13. The network schedules more successful scripted programs than any other cable channel.

"We have two solid blocks of original programming," said Jeff Wachtel, executive VP of original programming. "Monk" and "Psych" air Friday; "The 4400" and "The Dead Zone" air Sunday.

Wachtel said a fifth original scripted hour will emerge out of three projects in development. The most far advanced, with a completed pilot, is "In Plain Sight," starring Mary McCormack as a federal marshal who supervises people in the witness-protection program while pretending to her mother, sister and boyfriend that she's a run-of-the-mill government employee.

The two others are in script development, still to be cast: "To Love & Die in L.A.," about a daughter who discovers her long-lost father is a contract killer, and "Burn Notice," about a maverick ex-CIA man who becomes a private investigator, using his special-ops training to help people in trouble.

I followed The Dead Zone for several seasons but it got hard to find when it was even on so I eventually stopped following it. It seems like USA was pushing all of their shows except for this one.

I'm with you jon41380 - I tried to keep up with The Dead Zone until a couple seasons ago when it never seemed to actually be airing at its scheduled time. I'm just going to take the NetFlix route and catch up with it on DVD - at least then I'll know where it is!

I don't get to see USA's shows all that much, but what I've seen I've liked. PLEASE put In Plain Sight on the air if for no other reason than I'd get to see Mary McCormack every week. She's terrific in everything and so damn gorgeous! I promoise I'll tune in every week; hell, I'll keep USA on 24-7. : )

Haven't really watched Monk since Sharona left. Still trying to catch up on 4400 on DVD.

God I hate this, since when does a season become 13 episodes. The first few seasons of the Dead Zone were full 22 episodes with plenty to explore and tell. Now they just quickly rush with the arc and forget exploring other avenues. I feel cheated when a show is limited to a small number of episodes.

Dead Zone Season 1 was 13 episodes. Season 2 was 19. Cable shows always have less than network shows. I love having new episodes during the summer, but I wish The 4400 would air in the winter too. 9 - 10 months is a long time between seasons.

Just be glad you're getting 13 episodes of "Dead Zone". I'm crushed my "Arrested Development" won't be back for a fourth season. Bummer.

And I have just renewed not watching USA.

That being said, I am also very sad about "Arrested Development". Long live Tobias the never-nude!!!
