VALKYRIE Pushed Back to October 08

By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
Date: Saturday, December 15, 2007

Last week, Universal announced via a press release that they pushed WANTED to June 27, 2008, a day previously set aside for Pixar's WALL-E and VALKYRIE. This move didn't seem to make much sense in an already crowded lineup for that weekend and it seems that United Artist is thinking the same thing. The studio has decided to push the WWII thriller back to October 3, 2008, which now has it going up against Guy Ritchie's RockNRolla.

Plot Summary: Superstar Tom Cruise heads an international cast as Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, the aristocratic German officer who led the heroic attempt to bring down the Nazi regime and end the war by planting a bomb in Hitler's bunker. The "July 20 Plot" on Hitler's life is one of the most heroic but least known episodes of World War Two. Severely wounded in combat, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg returns from Africa to join the German Resistance and help create Operation Valkyrie, the complex plan that will allow a shadow government to replace Hitler's once he is dead. But fate and circumstance conspire to thrust Stauffenberg from one of many in the plot to a double-edged central role. Not only must he lead the coup and seize control of his nation's government... He must kill Hitler himself.

VALKYRIE now hits theaters October 3, 2008.

The June 27 weekend will now be Pixar's WALL-E vs. Universal's WANTED.

I want to go see this, but I'm not in any rush too. I can wait (since I have to).

The suspense will be incredible to know whether the plot succeeds. LOL.
Good move covering part of Tom Cruise' face as well.
This movie should open on Thanksgiving, because it smells like a Turkey.

October 3rd is an odd date to be released. I anticipate a further push back to November or December.

dammit bdd - you ruined it for me. Can I apply for dual citizenship in germany? They seem to be the only country that wants to ban scientology because they've actually recognized it as the CULT it is. Oh wait - nevermind.... they are responsible for Ewe Bolle too.
