Action Comics #1 featured Superman lifting a car above his head on the cover as two people ran in fear and one cowered on the ground.

This first introduction of Superman carried a description of his powers. It specified that Superman could jump one-eighth of a mile in distance and that his skin could only be broken by a bursting shell.

History

Joe Shuster and Jerome Siegel wrote the comic and drew the artwork. Shuster was originally from Toronto and he used the city as a model for Superman's city of Metropolis.
