The Coming Soon website scored a nice report direct from the annual ShoWest convention happening in Las Vegas right now. Every year the Hollywood movie studios assemble and present their upcoming films for the next year and whet the interest of theater owners. The reporter for Coming Soon was on hand for Universal Studios presentation of their future movies and caught sight of a new trailer for HULK as well as an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of the monster designs for VAN HELSING.
On the HULK trailer: "It was loaded with shots of Bruce Banner changing into the Hulk and dozens of shots of the Hulk from close ups to arial shots. This was the highlight of the reel and man did they get the character exactly as I remember when I used to read the comics. This could be bigger than the SPIDER-MAN movie. My favorite shots were the Hulk picking up Jennifer Connelly and when the Hulk jumps off a cliff holding onto a helicopter. (Could have been an airplane, it happened so fast) Even the shots of the Hulk leaping, what appears to be, a mile were realistic (I mean believable).
"We get shots of the dose of radiation that curses Banner, the lab, total destruction of an army after the Hulk, warm and fuzzy shots of the Hulk and total mayhem of practically everything in the Hulk's path. I can't wait for this movie."
On the special preview shown of VAN HELSING: "We got a first behind the scenes look at the upcoming monster movie. It may be the biggest monster movie epic ever. They went into extensive scenes of them making and casting the outfits of Frankenstein, the Werewolf and others.
"We are told by director Stephen Sommers that every monster that has every been used by Universal is featured in this movie, the drawings of the werewolf shedding his human skin look fantastic. We are also told that this is a PG-13 movie with no blood. The heads of Frankenstein are awesome and we are also told by the director that Frank's head comes completely off during the film and he just plops it back on. The shots of the castle are huge. Unbelievable huge."
HULK stomps into theaters on June 20, 2003 while VAN HELSING won't be seen until May 21, 2004.
