It seems that SPIDER-MAN 4 now officially has someone attached to the project. After months of searching, Entertainment Weekly reports that Sony has hired James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Rundown) to write the script for this fourth installment of the web-hurling superhero. The magazine also reports that Sony wishes this fourth film to be released in 2009. This kind of timeframe puts Sony and Vanderbilt under some time constraints because Vanderbilt will not be able to write anything during the WGA strike, something which could take effect tomorrow at midnight if the union decides to take that course of action.

I don t really enjoy the third, i prefer the first and second. Too much bad guys and actually not as bad ! sony want so much a large audience that we see always bad guys get an excuse for what they do wrong, and finally get free to go...that s not what we want, sand man was a bad ass, we want some really bad guys like the Rhino or Thanos I will also appreciate a cameo form super skrull !!!

Super-skrull? Thanos? Those are more FF or Silver Surfer villains. We NEED Rhino yes, and my hope, Kraven the hunter.

I hope they use Lizard since the Doc is there in the background with a good actor. And Man-Wolf with John Jameson since he is around also. It might be interesting to have Peter reveal to the world that's he's Spider-man since that is the rage in the funny books right now. Venom was scary but with Lizard and Man-wolf it might be a topper that way.

Here's what I'd like to see in Spider-Man 4...Dr. Conners, through experimentation to regrow his arm, becomes the Lizard and terrorizes the city. To boost newspaper sales and the Bugle's image, J.J. hires the world's most renowned hunter, Kraven, to track down and capture the beast.

In the meantime, Peter finds out that Conners is the Lizard and begins a hunt of his own. Gwen Stacey, who has become something of a celebrity in the city, is now a local TV reporter and assigned the Kraven hunt story. Spider-Man and Kraven find the Lizard at the same time and a three-way battle ensues with Peter trying to stop the Lizard from doing any more damage, and Kraven from killing the Lizard. Gwen and her camera crew arrive on scene to cover the story. During the battle, Peter saves the Lizard, who changes back into Dr. Conners, and embarrasses Kraven on TV.

Kraven becomes obsessed with Spider-Man and slowly goes off the deep end. Seeing dollar signs at the possibility of bankrolling Spiderman's unmasking on television, J.J. hires Kraven again, this time to capture Spider-Man. Kraven gets a battle suit from an unknown source to amp up his already formidable physical abilites, giving him the power to go toe-to-toe with Spider-Man.

During this time, Gwen and Peter run into each other a lot covering the same stories and get close, causing a rift between Peter and Mary Jane. There's also jealousy on MJ's part, because as her star seems to be setting, Gwen's is rising.

Kraven eventually discovers Peter is Spider-Man and uses Gwen as bait to lure Peter into a trap. During the battle between the two, Gwen falls. Peter tries to save her and...snap...broken neck and Gwen dies. Peter brings down Kraven, almost killing him, when Mary Jane shows up to save Peter's soul and Kraven's life by talking Peter down. "Peter, remember Uncle Ben! With great power..." A tired and guilt-ridden Peter drops Kraven to the ground and walks over to Mary Jane's waiting arms "Comes great responsibility."

The movie ends with a pair of glowing eyes in the darkness watching Peter and Mary Jane walk away. We hear a hauntingly familiar goblin laugh. roll credits.

Movie's written, get the cameras rolling!

09?
Leave it for 2010. Recast and new director if Raimi is out so they can do the next Spider-Man trilogy with the remaining villains. They gotta go with Lizard for the next one. Bringing Kraven in would be a good idea and then you still have Electro, Mysterio, Carnage, Hobgoblin, Rhino etc. for the next films.

As long as they don't try to do 3 villains in one movie, Spidey should be fine.

Spider Man 4 should center around Spidey figthing to win back the audience that was left bitter after the mess that is Spider Man 3.

dallaswinston • Oct 31, 2007, 07:48am •
Carnage - with Jim Carry with his #23 movie hairdue colored red playing Cletus Kasady.

He'd be insane.
Other Villians choices would be - Hobgoblin - Mysterio - Shocker - or Jackal

Wes , as I said before I really like your story. Maybe you should look for a way to submit it to the studio. Stranger things have happened.
I think it's time for Raimi to give up the reins. Hopefully they'll find a suitable replacement. My understanding is that if Raimi doesn't direct he'll still be involved in the production. So that's a good thing but his direction has been going downhill with each movie and the last one had some right down silly moments.
About the schedule, I just hope that with the rush now to get the movie out by 09 they don't compromise quality.
There are obviously plenty of great villains to choose for Spidey, but please I don't want to see any comedians. Especially Carey.

Wessmith, I love your idea but instead of the Goblin at the end I would like it to hint that it is the Chameleon instead given his close brother-like relationship to Kraven.

I like the Kraven angle as well, Wess. And I can see, and probably get nuked for saying this, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson portraying him. That was the person that immediately came to mind as soon as Kraven was mentioned.
