Grind house is made up of two feature horror movies written by Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez put together as a double feature, mimicking the grind house exploitation horror films that both directors grew up watching and loving. Grind House will be presented as one full-length feature comprised of two individual films helmed separately by each director. Tarantino’s film, Death Proof (starring Kurt Russell), is a rip-roaring slasher flick where the killer pursues his victims with a car rather than a knife, while Rodriguez’s film explores an alien world eerily familiar to ours in Planet Terror (starring Freddy Rodriguez, no relation). The collaboration went so far as to include fake Exploitation movie trailers, and grind house type ads in between both movies. The riveting score for Grind House was composed by Rodriguez himself.
The Reaping is the latest horror film from Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis' Dark Castle Productions (House on Haunted Hill, Thirteen Ghosts, Ghost Ship, Gothika), with Hilary Swank as a woman investigating a Southern town beset by Biblical plagues. John Frizzell provided the score, reportedly a replacement for one by Philip Glass, and it's the first feature directed by Stephen Hopkins since 2000's Under Suspicion.
The Ultimate Gift is an inspirational drama scored by Mark McKenzie, starring Brian Dennehy, James Garner and brand new Oscar-nominee Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine).
