Leslie Felperin has reviewed V FOR VENDETTA for Variety, after seeing the movie at the Berlin Film Festival.

The film is described as "often visually striking" but though "undercoated by a compelling sci-fi concept, graphic-novel adaptation V FOR VENDETTA feels flat as a storyboard."

Felperin feels "the film suffers as its most active character, V, is hidden behind a mask and helmeted with one of Cher's old Cleopatra-style wigs for almost the entire running time." She goes on to note "Weaving tries hard with voice and movement to add expression, but there's still nearly zero chemistry between the leads."

The action sequences are described as "serviceable but disappointing."

What do those reviewers know!!! So they a "Movie Critics", they all say movies like the English patient were good, but I did not care for that stupid movie. I think I will still see it, I never listen to those stupid critics anyway. hey, they said Aeon Flux was bad, I still liked that movie, Charlize was super hot in that movie.

I really wanted to like Aeon Flux and that was one of the most boring "action" films I have ever scene in my life... she is beautiful, but the story and action sucked.

Most critics are expecting this to be a superhero film and it's not supposed to be that at all. I can imagine that a lot of the critics will not 'get' this film at all. Looks like we had better see this in the 1st couple of weeks.

Critics are paid to review movies, because they don't have what it takes to make movies, and a lot of them are bitter, and overly harsh when they appraise the quality of the films they see. You're absoloutely right though, they're probably expecting a "Superhero" film. They gave the Crow bad reviews and it was a masterpiece. I imagine if the "Watchmen" ever actually gets made, most critics will be too stupid to get that either.
I'm not familiar with V for Vendetta, but I love Moore's work. I'm glad that Sin City proved that the unconventional comics deserve to be adapted into films along with all the superhero stuff.

They should be looking at this more as a 1984, Fareheight 451 kind of movie. I love the graphic novel, and with Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman, I really don't see how they can screw it up.

If it ain't Rodger Ebert, I don't place much confidence in it.

Wow, talk about bitter. Considering none of you have even seen the movie, I'm not quite sure how you can defend it. As for critics, people tend to think of them as a single entity when they are not. Some may be failed film makers, but most are simply film lovers who like to watch rather than make. Most loved English Patient because it was an incredibly well made movie. Most didn't like Aeon Flux because it simply wasn't very good. They see A LOT of movies, so it takes a little more to blow their hair back, as it were, than the typical viewer. Charlize Theron walking around in a sexy outfit isn't enough. Most are not pale, friendless virgins who froth at the mouth every time a new comic book is adapted, so don't be surprised if they don't love the next Demon Boy or Alligator Man movie as much as you do. Not many people will.

I'm with shooter. It's amazing that so many of you have already seen this movie and are able to put your informed opinion ahead of this trash-talking paid critic. I wish I could get advance screenings like you all do.

Folks, everybody's got a different opinion. Reviewers too. Just because they don't like what you do doesn't mean they "don't have what it takes to make movies." I know plenty of engineers who tell me what they think of movies, and I don't see them making any.

By the way, are any of you putting this disparaging remarks about critics actually making movies right now? If so, please drop me a line so I can sell you my screenplay.

I'll try giving the review of the movie in about 2 weeks. I'll be at an advance screening on the 27th or 28th in Phoenix. I just finished the book about 2 weeks ago so it's fresh to see what's different about the story.

Critics are always ready to pick apart a film or movie to pinpoint the flaws, however they never do really admit to whether the film or movie is entertaining. The majority of the masses don't go to the movies to rate and review what they're seeing... they go to be entertained.

Is this movie entertaining, that's all I wanna know!
