Vaughn Exits X3

Matthew Vaughn has left X-MEN 3 citing family reasons. He did so just a few days before location scouting was set to begin.

20th Century Fox said in a statement "as the shooting schedule evolved, (Vaughn) realized he would have to move to Los Angeles and Vancouver for at least a year. Not wishing to uproot his family for an extended period, Vaughn opted to depart the production."

Fox said, they are still "fully committed" to making the May 26, 2006 release date.

Un-freakin' believable! Come on now. Now they gotta find a new director in a hurry, which means he's gotta be updated on the script and such. And they still want a May 26th release date? AHHH! Although I really liked Beast's casting choice. Grammer is great. And a perfect choice for Beast. He's got the perfect voice for him.

You'd think getting paid big bucks for a movie like this, would be incentive to uproot ANYONE for only a year. I'll do it! Pick me! Pick me!

Jonathan Frakes is very much interested in directing the movie. Vaughn should have said no earlier compared to pulling out on the last minute when principal photography is about to start. Josh Whedon was interested earlier but pull out when fox doesn't like his directorial ability.

I widh there was a deep throat at Fox. Im really not surprised. After firing Bryan Singer --and Superman Returns will be better than Xmen or X2. Fox is a family who wants to control properties. And after AVP and chopping up Daredevil which actually turned out decent, but the R rated version is better. too bad Lucas didnt bail on writing citing family reasons. What is Peter Hyams up to or Andy davis or John Hughes?

Joss Whedon to the rescue!

Yeah, Joss Whedon would be the perfect choice in my book, simply because he knows X-Men and he knows comic books. Jonathan Frakes would be an interesting choice, I think he's a goood director, but he'd need to have a good script to work with.

What about Kevin Smith? He know the material.

• Jun 02, 2005, 09:59am •
Isnt Joss Whedon working on wonderwomen,, Kevin Smith is good but he admits hes not ready---And knowing Xmen is like knowing cheese on pizza--not that difficult.

Sorry, I loved ST:NG as much as the next guy but...I do not want the guy who helmed Clockstoppers and Thunderbirds behind the wheel of X3. $0.02
