What They Say
"The Inma Ball:" From the darkness of the past, Necros and the Lords of her perverted Inma Empire have been reborn. She plans to revive the god Apollo from his ten-thousand-year slumber and receive his gift of infinite power - clearing the way for her conquest of Earth. But to awaken Apollo, she must find five extraordinary women.
But the warriors she seeks aren't about to help her out. Together, these 19-year-old women are the super battle team Venus 5 - the holy warriors of Venus and the servants of the goddess Aphrodite - and the only defense against Necros' forces of evil.

Unfortunately, nobody bothered telling these would-be heroines about this. Their liaison with Aphrodite is a lecherous cat who is more concerned with "earthly matters," and their patron turns out to be an arrogant airhead who won't be much help! Even though they lack a clear idea of who they're fighting, Venus 5 will do their best!

"Labyrinth of the Inma:" After the defeat of Necros and her minions, the 19 year-old members of the Venus 5 Team await the perverted Inma empress' next move. Their questions are soon answered, however, when Necros reappears in a TV interview - as the curator of the exclusive Golden Star Art Galleries! It seems she and her four assistants have put together an extensive collection of Greek and Roman artifacts, including a giant, gold statue of Apollo!

But what they find in the galleries is more than even the Venus 5 team is prepared to handle! The Inma seem to be on the verge of gaining the vast holdings of the Golden Star financial group to use in their bid for world conquest. And even worse, it looks like Necros is one step ahead of the Venus warriors at every turn.

Soon, the Venus warriors are on the run from Necros and her oversexed minions. But even when things seem hopeless, they may yet find a few new allies to help them. But in the end, it looks like Venus Pink and Venus Blue may be the only ones who can stop Necros from resurrecting Apollo and gaining its power!

The Review!
Or you could just say "Sailor Moon like you've never seen it before". I think that pretty much sums it up.

The audio on the disc is English only and suffers a bit from sounding somewhat hollow, especially in the first couple of scenes. As related elsewhere, this could be due (and most likely is) to how it was originally mixed. Later in the presentation there aren't any issues that I could detect and the audio sounded very good.

The video is very clean and clear, especially on the first episode. A couple of sections of the second episode has some light shimmering on occasion, but nothing that really detracts unless you're looking for it. And with this kind of show, well, that's not what you should be looking for!

The packaging is the same as the La Blue Girl discs in that it seems like it's in a slightly flimsier keepcase, similar to those out of Hong Kong. The back mentions that there are liner notes on the reverse side. Nope, none there. The Key Features section indicates Japanese language with English subtitles. Nope, not there either. Curiously, the Key Features on this disc are on a sticky label over the actual insert. The insert itself only claims interactive menus as it's key feature. I've heard from several people that they've returned this disc due to that fact, since it's pretty much false advertising. The unfortunate part about tracking these titles is that most distribution companies won't list adult titles. The Image Entertainment site, which updates all upcoming releases, will not list adult titles or the anime 18 titles, so we didn't really know until they hit what would be on it. I don't think the Central Park Media site listed them as coming attractions either. Either way, the original language track is sorely missed here.

The menu is pretty functional here, as there's little to select. It's set up the same as the other Anime 18 discs so far, with the two covers presented with the menu options in the center. Nothing flashy, but it works at least.

As mentioned above, this is pretty much an adult version of a Sailor Moon parody. We have the episode where they all meet each other and realize their goals (and get to meet the goddess Aphrodite). Plenty of naughty stuff here too.

Since I generally enjoyed watching Sailor Moon, it was pretty easy and enjoyable to watch this disc to get an "alternative" version. The English voice actors do a pretty good job, though I can only imagine what a recording session for a show like this must be like. I'd love to see out takes from that!

With only an English version and the false advertising on the insert and label, I have a hard time actually recommending this disc unless you're generally into the hentai anime or just want to see a good SM parody. The disc production values are very good overall, but the options missing may outweigh its worth to many people.
