I loved the book as a kid but the movie will probably stink.

20th Century Fox and director Shawn Levy seem to be treading the same waters together. Once he's finished with their family adventure franchise Night at the Museum, Variety reports Levy has a new project the studio is setting up. And yes, it's another family-focused comedy.
The trade says the helmer has been charged with producing an adaptation of Judith Viorst's classic children's book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. While Levy hasn't yet committed to helming it, his production shingle 21 Laps will develop and produce the project. The Jim Henson Co. has the rights to the project and gave it to Fox. Screenwriter Rob Lieber is penning the script treatment. There is franchise potential with this one, as Viorst wrote two other stories based within the "Alexander" series.
The 1972 book revolves around family members collectively enduring the worst day of their lives. In the book, Alexander's day goes from bad to worse after he wakes up with gum in his hair.
At the moment, Shawn Levy is directing Hugh Jackman in DreamWorks' futuristic robotic fighter tale Real Steel.

This sounds like something I can bring my oldest daughter to. The other two have to wait for bluray.
