VARIETY covers Viacom CEO Mel Karmazin's opinions on a number of topics, including the exec's remarks on the possibility of adding the Sci Fi Channel to Viacom's portfolio. Sci Fi is owned by Vivendi Universal, which is currently on the block.

Karmazin said that Viacom won't be bidding on Vivendi, but that he'd be interested in buying Sci Fi from whoever closes the sale. Alternatively, the CEO noted that Viacom is looking at creating its' own SF-oriented channel with an eye to crafting a home for STAR TREK properties.
