The 'Transformers' were some of Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan's favorite toys as a child. In his little hands, the heroic robot Optimus Prime and the villainous Megatron spent hours locked in combat over a Lincoln Log fortress, he recalled.
Now, the shape-shifting robots from the Dreamworks movie 'Transformers 2' are about to invade Callahan's city and the mayor can hardly wait.
Filmmakers will shoot one of the movie's opening scenes at the old Bethlehem Steel site next month and pour more than $500,000 into the city's economy in the process, Callahan said during a news conference Friday.
