Next week there are a few genre titles debuting. Mania will take a look at Universal Soldier 4, Dragon (with Donnie Yen), and The Collection. However, I would like to suggest checking out the limited release of the loose remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night titled Silent Night. the Trailer is embedded below and the screening locations are linked here.
Lincoln is absolutely fantastic. An Oscar should be in the bag for Daniel Day Lewis. There should at least be a nod (hopefully a win) for Tommy Lee Jones who is excellent in the film. Sally Field will probably pick up a nomination, too.
Skyfall is also great. Definitely a top-5 Bond film. I haven't watched the others recently enough to fairly determine where it ranks among that group, but it definitely belongs.
I can't believe people really want to see Twilight. I saw about 20 minutes of the last film...it was so bad. Just headache inducing bad. Just a good example of how box office success doesn't not a quality film make.
Anyone think its weird that no one on this site reviewed Rise of the Guardians, it was one of the better animated films I have seen in a while, and it was very enjoyable as well, but its been out almost a week and has no review yet.
Evil Santa ? So, Black Christmas wasn't enough, they had to make another stupid horror movie with a christmas theme ?
I saw Lincoln, kinda boring, they could have cut it down for running time to get the point across. You can make a drinking game out of every time Lincoln yelled "NOW". Kind of ironic however that it was democrats that wanted slavery and not the republians. Seeing as how public opinion is that republians are more racist then democrats. Mitt should have brought that point up since race was a big factor on obama's win again.
I saw Rise of the Guardians also. I liked a fighter Santa type. I hope it does well enough for sequel.
I saw Red Dawn also. Not as horrible as I thought it was going to be. They changed it up enough to keep my interest. Not much of a story like first one. But it was ok. Still a bad call to switch China with N Koreans.
Not to get too political here Dazzler. But Democrats and Republicans meant two completely different things back during the Civil War era. In a way the roles were pretty much switched back then, if that makes sense.
Anyone ever seen Silent Night, Deadly Night, (What ever part number) where the topless girl gets mounted on the antlers of a deer head?
Sorry. I was a child when that came out. It is my only retaining memory of the whole series.
I took the kids to see Rise of the Guardians and we all loved it. Truly one of the best or maybe the best animated flick of the year. It was a fun action adventure with superb animation, great characters (Alec Baldwin was unrecognizable as North) and great humour. And Dreamworks did not have to rely on pop culture or fart jokes for this one.
It's too bad it only made 25 million but I guess we can blame Twilight and Bond for taking a big chunk out of it. This movie should have maybe opened this Friday instead.

Skyfall - A minus
Excellent flick with solid performances, well paced script and great action. As noted in the reviews, it has a good mix of the old and new. Not as good as Casino Royale but pretty much up there.
